The Laboratory Technician provides technical and operational support for the Advanced Manufacturing, Engineering, and Cleanroom laboratories. This role ensures that laboratory spaces and equipment are maintained, supplies are managed, and safety protocols are upheld to support academic and research activities. This position is currently funded until December 2025 by the READI grant. If sustainable funding is not secured upon the expiration of the grant, there will be no guarantee of continued employment in this position.
- Lab Preparation and Maintenance
- Prepare, organize, and maintain laboratory spaces, ensuring readiness for instructional and research activities.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on laboratory equipment and tools, coordinating with vendors as needed.
- Calibrate equipment and conduct quality checks to ensure functionality and accuracy.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and reorder as necessary.
- Technical Support
- Assist faculty and students with the setup and operation of lab equipment during classes and projects.
- Provide training and guidance on equipment usage and safety procedures.
- Support faculty in delivering curriculum that includes technical, hands-on components.
- Safety and Compliance
- Implement and enforce lab safety policies, ensuring compliance with college, state, and federal safety regulations.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and address identified risks.
- Maintain accurate safety training and incident records.
- Cleanroom Operations
- Ensure cleanroom compliance with contamination control protocols and maintain associated equipment.
- Monitor environmental conditions, ensuring they meet required specifications for optimal operations.
- Collaboration and Communication
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to identify and address laboratory needs.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for procurement of equipment and materials.
- Participate in planning and development for lab upgrades and new setups.
- Position Type: Full-Time (Grant Contract until December 2025 with Potential for Renewal)
- Work Schedule: Flexible schedule to support day, evening, and rare weekend lab operations.

Working Conditions

- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods.
