The purpose of this position is to help maintain facilities, grounds and properties in a condition of optimal operating excellence, by performing a variety of maintenance including grounds maintenance, snow removal, landscaping and lot cleanups. Other duties may include varies mechanical, electrical, and plumbing repairs inside the building and/or on Ivy Tech vehicles and mowers.
This position will report to the Maintenance Manager. The major responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain facilities, grounds and properties in a condition of optimal operating excellence, by performing a variety of maintenance including grounds maintenance, snow removal, landscaping, and lot cleanups.
- Other duties may include varies mechanic, electrical, and plumbing repairs inside the building and/or on Ivy Tech vehicles/mowers.

Occasionally the employee will lift and/or move up to 100lbs. The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as tables, scaffolds, and cabinets. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Candidate must be able to work from ladders and at heights from up to 100 feet.
ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works indoors and outdoors. The employee will work near or with moving mechanical equipment. The employee may occasionally work with toxic or caustic chemicals such as petroleum products, degreasers, sprays and non-household dust. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints. The employee will occasionally work irregular or extended hours and will frequently work alone. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but occasionally very loud.

Pay - $15/hour - may be scheduled up to 28 hours a week
Tuition Fee Remission after one year of employment
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license, and be insurable under the college authorized driver criteria;
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak and communicate effectively.
- Ability to use a computer for reporting obligations.
