Position Summary
The laboratory of Dr. Melissa Mavers studies graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), an immune-mediated complication of stem cell transplantation. Through transcriptomic, proteomic, and functional analyses of immune regulatory cells, and use of mouse models of disease, the Mavers Lab seeks to enhance understanding of the role of immunosuppressive cells in GVHD and use a bench-to-bedside approach for developing novel cellular therapies. Analyses include flow cytometry, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays, other bead-based and colorimetric assays, and RNA-sequencing. Previous experience with mouse husbandry and experimental procedures as well as tissue/cell culture experience is strongly preferred.
The Mavers lab has a highly inclusive and collaborative culture, striving to provide an environment of growth and support for producing high quality science. We seek a self-motivated growth-focused individual capable of performing intricate experiments. Further technical training opportunities range from basic to advanced immunology/molecular biology techniques including cloning, PCR, viral transduction, and the above assays. Dr. Mavers provides career mentorship, opportunities for authorship to all contributing individuals, and potential opportunities for independent work.
