Upward Bound at Ivy Tech Community College seeks an intern with a passion for event and activity planning. Intern will be responsible for assisting with creating fun, interactive, and educational experiences for Upward Bound students during the Summer Academy.
Upward Bound at Ivy Tech Community College is a college preparatory program providing educational, social, and cultural experiences to Muncie Central high school students in order to help them develop character, scholarship, and leadership.

Contract Employee | up to 20 hrs per week for 6 weeks | 1 Week of Training |
Responsibilities:
- Assist Upward Bound in the planning and execution of the Annual Summer Banquet.
- Assist Upward Bound staff and director in executing a variety of activities throughout the summer, including icebreakers, team building activities, workshops, and field trips.
- Help staff and guest speakers prepare for workshops and activities by purchasing and organizing supplies, creating signage, creating decorations, and creating daily/weekly agendas.
- Help supervise students between classes, during lunch, during workshops, and on field trips.
- Help promote Upward Bound and its activities by taking photo and video at events, creating social media content, and creating take-home calendars/agendas for students and parents.
- Encourage positive student interactions and remind students of the rules and expectations for participating in Upward Bound.
- Help staff with basic recordkeeping, such as tracking attendance and inputting relevant data into Student Access online.
Qualifications:
- Working toward a college degree, preferably in a related field. (e.g. Education, Mathematics, English, Hospitality Management, Event Planning, Public Relations, etc.)
- Flexibility in schedule and environment
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work respectfully with under-recognized high school students
- Self-motivated, organizational skills, detail-oriented, multi-task and meet deadlines
