Serves as the Utility Worker IV for Ivy Tech Community College responsible for campus all around maintenance work consisting of moving and relocating furniture, installing and removing pictures, projector screens, and plaques. Troubleshoot, repair and perform maintenance on common plumbing issues, HVAC issues and assisting all other maintenance technicians when needed. This list is not meant to be all inclusive but is meant to illustrate the diverse base of the job at hand.

Teamwork: Must be able to work alone, and work as a team. Efficient operation of the team depends upon the reliability of each member. Any regular or major change in assignment must be discussed with the supervisor. Day-to-day alterations may be made to cope with special circumstances at the judgment of the supervisor.
Major Responsibilities:
- Utilize the College’s work order system to access daily assignments, document completed tasks, and coordinate room setups.
- Assist with the relocation and storage of furniture and equipment; transport supplies and materials to various sites within the Region using College fleet vehicles.
- Perform installation, repairs, troubleshooting, and maintenance related to furniture moving, plumbing systems, and support of remodeling or construction projects. This includes the ability to interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Conduct plumbing work—including installation, maintenance, and repairs—for both existing infrastructure and new construction. Systems include potable and non-potable water as well as pneumatic lines. A general understanding of the Indiana Plumbing Code is required.
- Provide support during staff shortages caused by vacations, illness, or during special projects such as renovations and construction.
- Work with plumbing systems specific to office and laboratory environments, including piping and pumps.
- Engage in physical tasks involving lifting and manual labor. Follow proper lifting techniques and safety protocols. Repetitive lifting should not exceed 50 pounds without assistance.
Additional Duties:
- Participate in campus safety and security drills as needed.
- Open Regional buildings, disable alarm systems, and prepare facilities for daily operations.
- Be available for emergency responses involving building security breaches.
- Perform building operational checks occasionally on weekends, as required.
- Rotate through scheduled building security rounds on Sundays, holidays, and modified workdays.

Work Schedule:
- Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Occasional weekend work may be required for specific operational needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED and a valid Indiana Driver's License required. Must be able to: read; work independently; operate hand/maintenance tools, operate lawn maintenance equipment, have some electrical service knowledge, working knowledge of plumbing systems and HVAC systems. Must maintain working relationships with faculty, staff, students and relevant contractors.
- The incoming employee must hold a valid Indiana driver's license and complete the Driver Approval Form to obtain authorization from the Systems Office for operating any College-owned, leased, or rented vehicles as part of their job responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of or experience in maintenance and/or construction work preferred with a specialty in plumbing and mechanical systems.
