Position Summary
Leadership role within APP group with general duties and responsibilities described below. The goal of the position is to support the advancement of the division’s APP group as a whole, with a particular focus on the CCU. Communicates and collaborates with existing APP and physician leadership across the division.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Human Resources
- Collaborates and communicates with CCU/critical care division leadership and nurse recruiter regarding department staffing needs and marketing.
- Reviews on-line applications and resumes of APP candidates.
- Initiates and participates in inter-departmental interview process for APP candidates.
- Solicits feedback from group regarding candidate interviews and participates in hiring decisions.
- Participates in and helps ensure adequacy of new APP training for CCU critical care needs
- Participates in credentialing/privileging process for newly hired APPs, as needed.
- Participates in annual APP evaluations.
- Provides ongoing coaching and mentoring for APPs, as needed.
Operations
- Monitors scheduling and helps ensure staffing needs are met.
- Identifies and addresses staffing concerns.
- Updates administrators and department leaders regarding scheduling concerns or changes.
- Oversees APP meetings, as needed.
- Attends meetings-leadership, individual unit APP meetings, core APP meetings.
- Promotes citizenship, leadership, and participation by the APP group and participates in decisions related to compensation for these areas
- Will practice clinically within all areas covered by the group, as needed
- Strategizes with physician leadership regarding:
- APP group needs and concerns
- New or ongoing APP expansion or change in clinical role
Education
- The Assistant Director collaborates with APP leads and Compliance & Community Outreach Lead in overseeing the sharing of pertinent educational offerings/information with APPs.
- Coordinates regular/annual educational updates, including billing and compliance.
- Attends appropriate hospital committee meetings and updates group with agenda items discussed and helps coordinate new training requirements for group, as needed.
Orientation for New APP's
- The Assistant Director collaborates with APP leads in overseeing the below orientation/on-boarding activities:
- Reviews and periodically updates orientation material, as needed
- Collaborates with department support personnel to initiate general necessities
- Coordinates orientation schedules
- Participates in evaluations throughout orientation period
- Serves as point person for feedback and general communication during and beyond orientation, as needed
Compliance
- Performs and submits 30 d and 90 d focused professional practice (FPPE) evaluations of newly hired APPs, including peer review/case rating and core competency evaluations.
- Manages ongoing professional practice evaluations (OPPE).
- Collaborates with members of group to revise or devise evaluation tools and processes, as indicated.
- Manages procedure log and verifies APPs are documenting correctly and coordinates documentation sent to MSO for updated privileging.
- Manages bi-annual privileging process with hospital. Collaborates with administrative support staff to ensure privileges are current and complete.the

Salary Range
$119,600.00 - $215,300.00 / AnnuallyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
