JOB SUMMARY:
Under minimal supervision, this position provides academic and personal guidance to applicants from admission through program completion. Responsibilities include registering students for programs and events, as well as connecting with career resources and job search strategies as needed. The role also builds relationship and partnerships with other designated academic unit to support student success. The position utilizes the College’s retention resources and other of progress indicators to assist students and faculty in achieving course and degree/certificate completion goals.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greets walk-in students and community members, providing guidance and support. Assists with social media communication, system testing, and various projects.
- Serves as a point of contact for students seeking resources (i.e.CNA), guidance, and information. Assists students with enrollment, registration, and other administrative processes. Processes admissions and registrations, provides career advising and coaching.
- Develops and maintains individualized Student Success Plans, assisting with class registration, financial aid applications, and billing issues. Monitors student progress and updates on degree requirements.
- Assists with recruitment activities, including evening and weekend events, supports off-site registrations and dual enrollment initiatives.
- Connects students completing courses to other programs. Reviews reports and updates Student Success Plans as needed.
- Provides comprehensive support for educational and career goals, conducts outreach to at-risk students, assists with program transfers, and enhances awareness of educational resources.
- Maintains regular follow-ups with students to address barriers to success, provides referrals to resources, and tracks progress. Ensures students have necessary materials for course success and register for required certification exams.
- Creates and schedules training sessions on skills such as computer literacy, resume writing, interviewing, career assessment, and employability skills.
- Collaborates with faculty, staff, and other departments to support students.
- Maintains an active roster of student pass rates to ensure goals are met and proficiency increases over time.
- Works with other programs to develop workshops, lectures, and training.
- Participates in groups and committees to advance the mission, vision, and goals of the organization.
- Completes other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, student services, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum two (2) years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Knowledge of student services processes, including enrollment tracking and support through degree/certificate completion.
- Experience in one-stop enrollment services, including registration, financial aid, and admissions.
- Strong team collaboration skills with the ability to work independently when needed.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and empathetically, with students and provide accurate and sound academic advice to promote student retention and success.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Windows-based applications, and student information systems.
- Skill in developing and delivering presentations.
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to provide accurate academic and career guidance to support student success and retention.
- Demonstrated leadership in setting and achieving goals.
- Ability to work flexibly to meet student and College needs, including peak registration periods and weekends.
- Ability and flexibility to handle a diversity of responsibilities and assignments to assist in the successful daily operation of the Northwest Center
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as sedentary work involving lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally, and other sedentary criteria are met.
