Under the direction of the General Studies Department Chair, the adjunct Instructor of Film Studies will provide online instruction for the Introduction to Film Studies course. Instructors facilitate the online course, engage in online discussions, provide robust grading feedback, support students toward successful course completion, communicate with faculty lead on subject matter, and evaluate student's progress.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develop instructional materials to facilitate student learning outcomes for the course.
2. Collect all assessment data related to student learning outcomes.
3. Effectively use the Canvas LMS to ensure meaningful learning activities occur throughout the five-week quarter.
4. Maintain an equitable system of student evaluation based on sound practices in accordance with the course syllabus.
5. Return all graded assignments in a reasonable time frame according to South College Faculty Expectations.
6. Project an appropriate professional image.
7. Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
8. Enforce all South College rules and policies.
9. Complete and submit all attendance rosters and grade forms before the established due dates.
Requirements
Candidates must evidence the following:
• A minimum of an acceptable master’s degree or MFA in the specific subject matter field, or an earned master’s or doctoral degree and satisfactory completion of 18 graduate semester hours in subject matter field; and
• Experience teaching similar courses at a higher education institute.
Preference will be given for candidates with experience teaching online.
