Department: Dual Credit Scheduling and Enrollment Services
General Statement of Job
The Dual Credit Enrollment Specialist serves as liaison to public schools and community agencies regarding the College’s Dual Credit Programs. Provides support to students, parents, and school district partners as it relates to program recruitment, and enrollment services.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with public school administrators, school counselors, and instructors.
- Facilitates various events such as parent meetings, presentations, and college fairs at middle schools and high schools in Hidalgo and Starr counties to promote Dual Credit Programs.
- Facilitates career exploration and planning activities to guide students in the selection of Dual Credit Programs pathway and South Texas College major.
- Meets regularly with school district officials to communicate enrollment deadlines and procedures for Dual Credit Programs and to coordinate enrollment activities for prospective and continuing Dual Credit students.
- Facilitates admission application and registration events at high school sites to ensure timely enrollment of students in college courses.
- Assists in the determination of Dual Credit eligibility of high school students and works with school district staff to obtain pending enrollment documentation.
- Coordinates onboarding events and programs for Dual Credit students at South Texas College campuses such as campus tours, New Student Orientation, and registration.
- Manages inquiries and develops targeted enrollment communications to both students and parents.
- Assists with the development of marketing material and activities for Dual Credit Programs and orientations.
- Maintains knowledge of the College’s programs, policies, procedures, and academic standards.
- Travels throughout the college district, as needed.
- Serves as Campus Security Authority.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree required.
- At least one (1) year of front-line customer service experience required.
- At least one (1) year in student support services or community outreach, preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent written, presentation, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, the Windows environment, and internet research skills.
- Critical thinking and data analysis skills.
- Knowledge of student information systems.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
- Ability to prioritize, organize, and complete multiple tasks with attention to detail, within stated deadlines.
- Ability to work independently as well as a team player within department and with others.
- Ability to adapt to constant change and periods of fast-paced, high-intensity work situations.
- Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as needed; willing to travel throughout Hidalgo and Starr counties using own means of reliable transportation.
- Demonstrated commitment to achieving the vision and mission of South Texas College.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries from groups of students, parents, faculty, staff, managers, and the general public.
- Ability to apply practical understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Checks, Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
- Security Sensitive position: all applicants are subject to a criminal background check under South Texas College policy.

- Must have or qualify for a valid Texas driver’s license and proof of liability insurance.
Physical Requirements
- Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

- Close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; and/or extensive reading.
- Mobility to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to indoor and outdoor environments; large crowds; frequent public speaking; work-related travel for training, professional development, recruitment, and other related events. Work hours frequently include evenings and weekends throughout the year.
