Position Summary:
Oversees the veterinary technology, biology, and chemistry labs at the Plant City campus. Responsibilities include ensuring classes have the necessary supplies and equipment, planning and coordinating work for lab staff, and monitoring lab operations for safety and effectiveness. The position requires collaboration with lab personnel to justify supply needs and ensure compliance with all safety regulations. Strong leadership and commitment to safety are essential for this role. THIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION. THE HIRING SALARY IS $43,888.00.
Job Duties
- Orders supplies, equipment, and pharmaceuticals and maintains timely inventory.
- Ensures that lab supplies and equipment are secured and consistently stored following laboratory classes.
- Ensures that new equipment is properly set up, stored, logged, maintained and accounted for.
- Maintains electronic data base for all lab supplies, pharmaceuticals, and equipment, files correspondence and records, monitors department budget and prepares updates.
- Monitors controlled substances to ensure proper ordering, storage, and destruction in conjunction with Drug Enforcement Agency requirements.
- Ensures labs are properly stocked with appropriate supplies and pharmaceuticals and that they are not expired.
- Ensures that labs are in compliance with accreditation requirements and safety requirements.
- Ensures that lab equipment quality control is periodically conducted.
Minimum Requirements
The position requires at least an Associate's Degree or two-year College equivalent (at least 60 undergraduate hours) and at least one year of prior-related work experience.
Preferred Requirements
Associate or Bachelors Degree in Veterinary Technology and at least three to up to five years of prior-related work experience. Credentialing in Veterinary Technology (Certification, Registration, or License) with Practice management or hospital management experience.
