Position Summary:
Under general supervision of the Dean of Health Sciences and the Associate Dean of EMS, this position delivers theory and/or skills training to one or more levels of EMS students in a laboratory and/or hospital setting.
Job Duties:
- Performs direct teaching and demonstration of EMS skills and facilitates hands-on learning, in a laboratory setting as appropriate to the position.
- Evaluates and provides feedback to students, as appropriate, using student interaction and demonstration.
- Instructs students on the most current DOT curriculum as approved by the Florida Bureau of EMS and under the direction of the Associate Dean of EMS as appropriate including: patient assessment and treatment of a variety of medical and trauma emergencies and in the use and care of a broad range of emergency patient care equipment.
- Ensures adherence to established College, Departmental and Program policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, and safety standards.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
- AS Degree or higher in EMS or related field.
- Florida certified paramedic in good standing.
- Completion of Level A - EMS Instructor Course Curriculum as defined in 64J-1.0201.
- *** Level A training must be completed prior to processing and start date.
- Currently employed by an ALS provider with a minimum of 3 years ALS level, patient care experience.
- AHA BLS Instructor certification (preferred).
- AHA ACLS & PALS Instructor certification (preferred), must obtain within six months of hire.
- Knowledge of EMT/ Paramedic theory and practice.
- Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of a range of emergency medical equipment.
- Ability to practice at a level appropriate to the level of instruction being provided.
- Ability to assess student performance and to provide appropriate feedback.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
