Lecturer Position in Finance at University of British Columbia
The University of British Columbia’s Faculty of Management, located at the Okanagan campus, invites applications for a Lecturer position for the Bachelor of Management program with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2025 for a full-time 1-year term with the desire of renewal thereafter based on performance. This position has responsibilities in teaching, service, and related duties, specifically:
To develop and deliver the following courses:
- MGMT 436 (3) Investments
Basic principles and tools of investment analysis. Understanding of the properties and uses of three broad types of financial securities: equity securities (common stock), fixed income securities (government and corporate bonds), and derivative securities (e.g., futures, options). The trading process, portfolio theory (risk-return and risk-arbitrage models), security analysis, and investment performance evaluation.
- MGMT 439a (3) Special Topics in Finance: FinTech
Latest concepts and/or issues in finance. Corporate bankruptcy, financial trading strategies, international banking, and other related topics within the field of finance. Not intended for topics routinely covered in the curriculum.
- COMM 190 (3) Introduction to Quantitative Decision Making
Introduction to decision models in business, including basic optimization, linear programming, probability, decision analysis, random variables, simulation, and solving decision problems using spreadsheet tools.
- To perform service as needed by the Faculty.
A PhD in the Business or Management disciplines is required. Previous post-secondary teaching experience is necessary. The successful candidate will have relevant university teaching experience, a commitment to teaching excellence, an ability to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and provide service to the University and the community. Preference will be given to candidates with significant experience working in the financial industry.
The position is subject to final budgetary approval.
Successful candidates will be expected to participate collegially in Faculty of Management service and activities, and engage effectively with colleagues across UBC.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
