Job Summary/Basic Functions
The Department of Applied Human Sciences is seeking a Graduate Assistant. This is a stipend position for 20 hours each week beginning in Fall 2025. The graduate assistant will generally work a standard weekly schedule but must be flexible for things such as training and fine dining meals, as well as some evening or weekend work.
Minimum Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
● Preference for applicants with minimal daytime classes or clinical work.
● Ability to work some evenings and weekend.
● Food Handlers Card for Madison County Kentucky
● Working vehicle and U.S. driver's license
Job Duties:
- 80%% - Experiential Labs and Events ● Supervision of students enrolled in food preparation courses. ● Assisting faculty/staff with laboratory tasks, maintenance, and/or supervision. ● Supervise and maintain food safety and sanitation. ● Supervise and maintain an efficient, clean, well-organized lab space. This includes laundering linens, upkeep of composting efforts, and inventory. ● Assistance with tasks related to Café Burrier, the student-run restaurant, in Fall semesters. ● Assistance in food procurement and preparation. ● Supervision of students in other lab spaces such as the sewing/textile labs. ● Obtain a Food Handler’s Card/Certification for Madison County, Kentucky through the Madison County Health Department. - (Essential)
- 20%% - Office Duties to Support Faculty ● Aid in faculty research and course content development. ● Create professional PowerPoint presentations. ● Utilize Blackboard to create quizzes, assignments, and post course materials. ● Grade assignments, quizzes, and other course requirements using a rubric. ● Acts in compliance with University policies, procedures and standards - (Essential)
