Department SummaryUCLA Lake Arrowhead Lodge is a unique Southern California meeting and retreat venue. Located high in the pine-studded San Bernardino Mountains on the tranquil shores of Lake Arrowhead, our 50-acre lodge provides meeting space and accommodations for groups from September through mid-June. During the summer, Bruins Woods Family Camp program runs for ten consecutive weeks, with up to 80 families attending each week.
Position SummaryUnder the direction of the Director of Facilities and Safety, the Facilities Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining the facilities at the UCLA Lake Arrowhead Lodge and Bruin Woods Family Resort. The incumbent shall, under direction, perform semi-skilled tasks on a regular and continuous basis, including plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, and electrical repairs. Responsible for the repair, diagnosis, replacement, and maintenance of site infrastructure and equipment. Will perform other duties as assigned.

QualificationsAbility to read, write, speak, and understand English; follow instructions and communicate professionally with guests and co-workers. (Required)
Must be punctual, dependable, and able to perform effectively under fluctuating workloads and in adverse weather conditions. (Required)
Skill in basic arithmetic and ability to read and understand manuals, diagrams, and schematics. (Required)
Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC systems and their maintenance. (Required)
Proficiency with hand/power tools (e.g., hand drills, electric snakes, saws, grinders, snow blowers, etc.) as well as testing equipment (e.g., voltmeter, amp-meter, pressure gauges, etc.) (Required)
Understanding of refrigeration systems and ability to repair/maintain all site equipment. (Required)
Working knowledge of low and high voltage electrical systems, multi-phase electrical systems - as well as working knowledge of testing equipment such as amp-meter, voltmeter, ohmmeter, pressure gauges and other similar equipment. (Required)
Capable of performing physically demanding tasks including standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and working in various postures; i.e. standing, stooping, pushing, kneeling, pulling, crouching, as required to complete job assignments (Required)
Knowledge of safe work practices, safe equipment operation, ladder safety, and proper use of safety equipment following university guidelines. (Required)
Ability to operate vehicles such as pickup trucks, forklifts, loaders, electric carts, and snow removal equipment with a valid California driver’s license in good standing. (Required)
Must possess knowledge of technical skills required for the repair, diagnosis, replacement, and maintenance of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry and heating systems. (Required)
Working knowledge of mechanical components including motors, gears, pumps, bearings, and fans. (Required)
