The Opportunity:
The Business Services department is seeking a Surplus Materials Handler to support the Surplus Property warehouse management team with daily operations, including the pickup, preparation, and disposition of certified surplus property. This position will also provide assistance to Moving Services and other Business Services units as needed.
Responsibilities:
Pick up university property across all campuses and prepare items for appropriate disposition. Operate specialty lifting gear and other warehouse equipment for safe removal and transport.
Assist with inter-campus Moving Services projects as directed. Responsible for packing, loading, unloading, and transporting university assets as part of departmental office and building moves.
Assist in disassembling and reassembling furniture to ensure proper fit through doorways or into transport vehicles.
Maintain accurate records of moved items, ensuring all assets are accounted for. Utilize inventory systems or checklists as required.
Test, clean, configure, measure, and photograph surplus property for disposition. Assist external customers with the pickup and payment of purchased surplus items, ensuring compliance with data security policies.
Schedule surplus property pickup requests and coordinate with specialty disposition vendors to facilitate the removal of certified surplus assets. Ensure vendors adhere to inventory control, safety, and data security policies.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 2+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information.
Preferred Qualifications:
One year of experience in warehouse operations, moving services, or inventory management.
Experience operating warehouse equipment, including forklifts and specialized lifting gear.
Knowledge of surplus property disposition regulations and data security policies.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in inventory tracking systems or related software.
Proven ability to deliver high-quality customer service, maintain service standards, and effectively address customer inquiries and concerns.
Health Assessment Required:
The UCF policy requires completion and passing of a physical exam for this position.
Special Instructions to the Applicants:
The anticipated salary range for this position is $15.00 to $18.10. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
Position requires a valid Class E driver’s license. This position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.
