About the Department
The Center for Identity + Inclusion (CI+I), which is part of Campus and Student Life, is home to the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs (OMSA), LGBTQ Student Life, and Student Support Services. The team offers programs, resources, and support for students across schools/divisions – and works in partnership with student-facing areas to advance the University’s commitment to diversity of thought and experience. The building (accessible to all students using their UChicago ID cards) is a hub for student activity, providing opportunities for students from different backgrounds and different academic programs to come together in a warm and welcoming environment.
Job Summary
The Center for Identity + Inclusion is looking to hire two Program Coordinators, each of whom will focus primarily on one area within the Center for Identity + Inclusion—LGBTQ Student Life or Student Support Services—and support broader efforts that align with departmental/divisional priorities. These areas offer a wide variety of programs and resources that are open/available to all students and may be of particular interest to LGBTQ students and FLI students (first-generation, lower-income, and/or immigrant students). The Program Coordinator implements programs and resources in collaboration with campus and community partners; provides individualized support to students; coordinates marketing efforts; assists with projects related to student experience; and serves as an ambassador, navigator, and bridge builder.
Responsibilities
Implements programs in collaboration with campus/community partners and assists with management of resources designed to meet student needs (e.g. food security)
Meets with individual students and student organization leaders who would like to get involved on campus, brainstorm ideas, ask questions, or raise concerns
Coordinates marketing efforts, which may include designing flyers and brochures to highlight programs and resources, using email marketing systems, updating websites, creating engaging content for social media, writing stories and profiles, managing digital assets, and exploring opportunities to raise the visibility of the office and promote engagement
Facilitates workshops and delivers presentations about our work
Maintains knowledge of campus/community programs and resources, and works with office/center leadership to connect students with partners as appropriate
Creates and implements community-building initiatives, with a special focus on incoming students and first-year students
Tracks programming expenses and regularly assesses program quality and impact
Solves problems in areas such as academic and administrative policy, student admissions, curriculum research and development, and budget development
Recommends process improvements for programs that relate to critical student-life improvement, including emergency management, accommodations for students with disabilities, and/or the administration of health care services and programs for students
Performs other related work as needed
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.
Work Experience:
Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Experience:
Two years of professional experience in student affairs/higher education
Experience supporting and advising students from diverse backgrounds and with diverse perspectives
Experience supporting and advising undergraduate and graduate/professional students
Experience coordinating large-scale programs
Experience facilitating workshops and giving presentations
Experience with marketing and communications, including email marketing, website updates, and social media
Preferred Competencies
Ability to understand the needs of the University of Chicago community and work with students, staff, and faculty in a wide variety of situations
An understanding of and commitment to promoting diversity of thought and experience
Demonstrated ability to foster community in complex academic or institutional environments
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to navigate sensitive situations
Strong project management, organizational, and analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail
Must exhibit creativity and flexibility
