General Statement of Job
The Business Systems Analyst will assist the Office of Human Resource with the ongoing support, design, implementation, and maintenance of all aspects of Workday HCM and other HR applications. Business Systems Analyst is responsible to manage and lead medium to complex scale projects to meet the department’s strategic business and operations objectives with a primary focus on configuration, implementation, troubleshooting, to accomplish end user needs.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for planning, recommending, executing solutions and systems integration to streamline and automate human resources processes; develop plans to mitigate and avoid future systems issues.
- Responsible for developing complex report writing, troubleshooting, analyzing data flows for process improvement opportunities, day-to-day operation and system support, and testing.
- Manages employee data, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Analyzes and assesses data and personnel transactions for accuracy and compliance; provides recommendations to manage employee data more effectively.
- Facilitates or participates in meetings to identify needs, build consensus and collaboration; identifies and manages desired outcomes and expectations to ensure deliverables are completed on time and within scope.
- Works collaboratively with HR Managers and staff to identify and recommend process solutions or alternate methods capable of addressing and resolving their business needs; execute solutions to improve user and system performance.
- Partners and serves as a liaison with Information Technology, Finance, and other college departments to resolve, translate, document and research solutions in alignment with HR business process owners, integrations, and operational requirements; translates business requirements into configuration designs.
- Assists with auditing and monitoring HRIS operations and configurations to ensure compliance with employment laws and/or regulations, HR department policies and procedures; conducts regular data and ad hoc audits as needed.
- Assist with performing systems administrator responsibilities for multiple modules of the HRIS unit; manages system and HCM user security and escalates issues when necessary.
- Researches, evaluates, implements, and administers third-party software tools to enhance software functionality and streamline business processes; collaborates with system vendors to identify and resolve technical issues.
- Assists the HRIS Officer with managing administration system functionality such as, user HCM access, primary configuration and security levels; maintains internal system values, structures, and tables; ensures data integrity by utilizing quality assurance methods to review data for accuracy.
- Assists the HRIS Officer in evaluating and assimilating evolving Workday functionality, remaining cognizant of complex system inter-dependencies and associated business process implications.
- Responsible for implementing required updates/enhancements in the context of a continuous improvement framework.
- Adhere to protocols and standards for facilitating configurations and software changes in an accurate, efficient, and compliant manner.
- Responsible for creating statistical reports, dashboards, or other data visualizations; for ongoing customer needs.
- Assists HR Administration with special projects by monitoring and auditing flow of human resource-related information including data entry, data retrieval, and standard, custom, and ad hoc report generation.
- Travels throughout the college, as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree required. Human Resources, Business Administration, Computer Science, or in a related area preferred . Master's degree preferred.
- At least one (2) years of experience working with HR systems reporting, configuration, and/or maintenance or other similar business systems experience. Software programming and design experience preferred.
- At least two (2) years of experience with reporting and analysis.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to communicate, in writing and verbal presentations, to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to create and assimilate business process documentation
- Extensive experience interacting with customers, including resolution of complex inquiries and efficient performance during high-volume timeframes
- Knowledge of workflow/process flow diagramming and documentation of business processes.
- Ability to adapt to constant change and periods of fast-paced, high-intensity work situations.
- Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as needed.
- Demonstrated commitment to the community college philosophy of education.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, students, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
