Research Assistant, Indigenous Studies
In the appointment of Research Assistant, your general duties and responsibilities will be:
Primary research, preparation of literature/library research, digital humanities, administrative tasks and provision of other research support and assistance. It is required to have some familiarity with Métis and/or Indigenous research, protocols and communities. Experience and knowledge of GIS mapping systems is considered an asset. Travel to Cumberland House may be required. The applicant must have completed their TCPS 2 CORE- 2022 training and have their certificate.
Your general location of work will be at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and you will report to Dr. Allyson Stevenson.
Education: This position is intended for a Graduate (either MA or PhD) student in the College of Arts and Science at the University of Saskatchewan. Ideally, the student is undertaking a degree within the social sciences or humanities, with experience or focus on both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
Required Number of Hours: 120 hours
Duration of Employment: July 7, 2025 - September 15 (10 weeks); with potential option to extend
Qualifications (Skills and Abilities): Applicants will have skills and knowledge of Indigenous oral history, and the ability to undertake Indigenous community engagement. The candidate will have excellent ability to attend to details and have superior writing and research abilities. Prior knowledge and training in GIS and digital asset management would be considered an asset. The ability to speak and understand Swampy Cree would be considered an asset.
