Position Summary:
Description of the role in Professor Wideman’s Pain Lab
Under the direction and supervision of the Lab Manager and Principal Investigator, the incumbent will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Preparing and updating study documents
- Preparing projects for review by the Research Ethics Board; renewing ethics; maintaining REB documentation; helping prepare amendments
- Assisting with participant recruitment
- Coordinating the information and consent process
- Coordinating data collection efforts
- Supporting the development of project surveys
- Administering surveys using LimeSurvey and compiling results
- Compensating participants for their time and preparing expense reports
- Organizing project meetings and workshops and preparing minutes
- Assisting with the management of data and datasets (analysis and secure storage of all projects related data)
- Assisting with research grant applications (updating CVs, translating documents from English to French, drafting emails and letters)
- Attending meetings and training sessions
- Clear and timely communication across stakeholders
This work will be primarily remote.
Description of potential role at Ste-Anne’s Hospital
Under the direction and supervision of the Research Assistant at Ste-Anne’s Hospital and Principal Investigator, the incumbent will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Supporting recruitment efforts for research projects
- Assisting with data collection
- Ensuring research project rollout complies with the ethics approved protocol and institutional regulations
- Assisting with obtaining all necessary regulatory documentation and approvals needed to implement a research project
- Updating project tracking documents
- Supporting the clinical team with research related questions/matters
- Communicating with research project teams
- Communicating project updates on a regular basis
This work will be conducted on-site at Ste-Anne’s Hospital, in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Quebec, up to a maximum of 3 days per week. On-site parking is available at an additional fee.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following qualities and skills:
- Bilingual (Fluency in French and English) is a requirement
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and in a team
- The position requires a high level of flexibility, adaptability, and attention to details
- Strong ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet time sensitive deadlines
The ideal candidate will have the following experience/credentials:
- Applicants are required to hold a master’s degree in a related field at minimum, or a bachelor’s degree combined with equivalent professional experience
- Work experience in a similar role is an asset
- Familiarity with research ethics
- Experience working in clinical health research with human subjects preferred
- Superior computer skills including a good knowledge of Microsoft’s Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams, including OneDrive and SharePoint)
- Experience using database management software (e.g., SPSS, Redcap)
- Experience using online video conferencing platforms such as Zoom
Home office requirements: e.g. access to your own personal computer with microphone and camera, reliable and fast internet connection, ability to download Zoom application and recordings.
Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level # 4 on a scale of 0-4.
