The Student Engagement Strategist is responsible for developing a comprehensive communication strategy and writing content that inspires prospective first-year and transfer students to engage with UNH at all stages of the admissions cycle. Influencers such as parents/guardians, school counselors and CBOs will also be included as key audiences in the engagement of first-year and transfer students. This individual must be comfortable working with a CRM system and lead content development. The Student Engagement Strategist will manage communications flow, deploy messages across various electronic channels, and establish metrics to measure the effectiveness of communication campaigns. The strategist will also be a copywriter and editor for all admissions recruitment material as needed across multiple platforms including, but not limited to, electronic, print, web and social media.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Content Engagement Strategy
Develop and execute a cohesive strategy to engage all first-year and transfer prospects, inquiries, applicants, and admitted students across various print, electronic and digital platforms to support and achieve enrollment goals.
Produce all marketing copy for UNH Manchester recruitment to advertise (radio, digital ads, billboards, video scripts), write blog posts about college admission-related topics and campus features and write content for social media, web, and all print recruitment materials
Develop e-mail and SMS communication strategy for UNH Manchester undergraduate populations including campaigns for first years, transfers, multicultural populations
Write content for undergraduate admission to support enrollment goals, including first year, transfer and underrepresented populations
Collaborate with members of the Student Engagement team to align messaging at all stages of the admissions cycle
Manage and execute an engagement strategy targeting influencers including school counselors, transfer advisers, parents, CBOS, etc. to build awareness and increase interests
Develop detailed documentation of student journeys to be shared with admissions staff
Provide copy editing of content as needed to enhance the communications plans for designated audiences across the various communication platforms
Develop written content for all enrollment webpages undergraduate recruitment events
Assist in execution of creative project plans:
Manage an accessible content inventory for use across all communication vehicles.
Manage relationships with resources including media contacts, CPA, freelancers and other creative services.
Support in the planning, budgeting, monitoring and production of deliverables.
Communication Plan Management/CRM Technology
Develop in-depth knowledge of CRM tool for reporting and supporting diversification of communications plan based on audience—including segmentation of populations to support personalized messaging for students’ journeys in the admissions funne
Launch and manage e-mail campaigns for UNH Manchester undergraduate populations, including first year, transfer, international and underrepresented populations, as assigned
Leverage CRM tool for reporting and monitoring students’ progression through the admissions funnel; examine outreach efforts for effectiveness
Develop data driven personalization of messaging to designated audiences both in content and timing of communications execution; incorporate A/B testing to drive engagement
Develop in-depth knowledge of CRM tool to identify key metrics to measure the effectiveness of admission recruitment-related engagement efforts in relation to recruitment travel, General Team Duties
Keep informed of new and emerging student recruitment trends in communications, especially in higher education.
Participate in the development of recruitment policies/procedures.
Supervision of support staff and/or student representatives/interns, as assigned.
Collaborate with social media manager and student interns to develop content for social media including, but not limited to blogs, takeovers and stories
Assist in staffing of other admission events and programs, as assigned
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, advertising, journalism, or a related field.
Three years of professional experience in marketing content creation.
Strong writing skills, with attention to audience, tone and nuance.
Demonstrated writing skills across multiple channels including web, print, advertising, social media, feature stories, and press releases.
Strong editing and proofreading skills
Ability to synthesize information and write clearly and concisely
Strong leadership, time management, organization, and project management skills
An ability to clearly articulate goals, work on project teams, and confidently advocate for a strategic vision
Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills
Knowledge of higher education and new/emerging trends in communication.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in marketing, communications or related field.
Strong editing and proofreading skills
Ability to synthesize information and write clearly and concisely
Strong leadership, time management, organization, and project management skills
An ability to clearly articulate goals, work on project teams, and confidently advocate for a strategic vision
Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills
