Position Summary
The Senior Graphic Designer conceives, creates, and manages all visual elements for the Academies at National University that fully integrate a cohesive visual approach throughout all media types. Organizes and leads creative assignments from conception to electronic output, including comprehensive layouts for publications and the Web, advertisements and advertorials, promotional and direct mail pieces, posters, logos, letterhead, web design and posting, and multi-media presentations. Additionally, the incumbent coordinates the creation and implementation of these items with representatives of various departments, partners, and outside vendors, or contractors.
Essential Functions:
- Lead the integrated campaign concept and development process, including creating and pitching concepts to internal and external stakeholders.
- Design brand marketing materials across mediums, including digital, social, website, event spaces, and print.
- Uphold and document brand style guidelines across marketing projects, advertisements, storefronts, and internal communications materials.
- Conceptualize and design logos, branded materials and digital and printed internal and external communication materials.
- Enhance and develop variations of current design systems, shared file storage, and brand assets.
- Create design templates and design guidelines that support the brand's visual identity, including presentation decks, email templates, and other design assets.
- Deliver final design files based on creative direction and technical specifications to the printer and/or key stakeholders.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to concept, develop and expand brand visual identity.
- Lead brainstorming sessions and contribute to the creative strategy for campaigns and branding initiatives.
- Research competitive design landscape, drawing inspiration from outside industries to inform strategic, conceptual, innovative, and comprehensive design systems that work across product families.
- Collaborate with additional departments as needed, including colleagues on the creative, website, email, social, SEO, and paid media teams.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
- Ensure all designs align with guidelines, maintaining consistency and quality across all touchpoints.

Requirements:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in graphic design, visual arts and/or multimedia design required.
- Minimum of seven (7) to ten (10) years of relevant experience at a creative agency or in-house creative team required.
- A portfolio illustrating proficiency to conceptualize, develop, and deliver creative across multiple channels required.
- Higher education, K-12, or nonprofit experience preferred.
Competencies/Technical/Functional Skills:
- Self-starter and problem-solver mentality.
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, XD, and Illustrator) and the Google Suite.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with faculty, executives, administrators, staff, community members and vendors, establishing and maintaining strong positive working relationships. Client-focused with the ability to handle confidential information with tact and discretion. Ability to direct and guide others.
- Familiarity with project management software such Jira, Microsoft Teams, Asana, and others.
- Experience across a variety of mediums including digital, social, print, broadcast, video, corporate communications, etc.
- Experience and/or interest in working with creative teams including Art Directors & Graphic Designers, Copywriters, and/or Videographers & Editors.
- Experience with platform best practices for email marketing and social media platforms.
- Ability to create and produce graphic materials using a range of media, methods, techniques, and equipment; ability to identify and interpret graphic design needs and develop creative and responsive design concepts. Ability to develop complex, integrated specifications and to compile and prepare graphic production budgets, schedules, and work plans. Knowledge of available external graphic design, printing, publication, and associated resources. Training in all areas of graphic arts including graphics for advertising and Web; must have knowledge of or be willing to receive training in programming, operation, and troubleshooting of multi-image systems.
- Mix of creative vision and close attention to detail and accuracy combined with project management, technical, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of broad array of media with the ability to apply that knowledge to myriad collaterals to successfully meet educational, informational, promotional, marketing, fund-raising and/or image building objectives.
