Center for Distributed Learning:
The Center for Distributed Learning (CDL) serves as the central agent for online learning at UCF, providing leadership in distance learning policies, strategies, and practices. CDL supports and expands student access to education through the advanced application of instructional technology, data analysis, policy, and strategic planning for distributed learning programs and courses. We collaborate with internal and external partners to investigate, design, deliver, assess, and support online learning through faculty development, course production, and research, which are all aligned with institutional goals.
The Opportunity:
The Learning Data Analyst (Data Analyst II) will play a vital role within the Learning Management System (LMS) Services area. This position will primarily focus on developing and maintaining insights derived from LMS data and other integrated tools. The Learning Data Analyst will actively participate in learning analytics projects to support current student success initiatives, enhance faculty access to course data, address requests from university auditors, and provide assistance to Instructional Designers and others with research projects. Additionally, the Learning Data Analyst will contribute to informing pedagogical approaches while supporting faculty members. The position will also involve forecasting to anticipate future trends and needs, ensuring that our support strategies remain proactive and data-driven.

Responsibilities:
Build and maintain ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data from the LMS and other integrated systems.
Perform in-depth analyses of LMS data to uncover trends, generate insights, and support institutional goals.
Create and manage interactive dashboards and visualizations using tools like Tableau or Power BI to aid decision-making.
Partner with faculty, administrators, and instructional designers to understand data needs and provide tailored solutions.
Lead and assist with learning analytics initiatives, ensuring accurate data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
Uphold data governance policies and ensure compliance with FERPA and institutional privacy standards.
Use programming languages like Python, SQL, or R to develop custom analytics tools and predictive models.
Stay updated on advancements in data engineering, analytics, and educational technology to recommend innovations.
Identify and propose enhancements to LMS services and analytics processes to better support student success.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information
Preferred Qualifications:
We welcome candidates with any of the following skills and experience:
Proven experience in data analysis, preferably within an educational or learning management system context.
Ability to design, implement, and maintain ETL pipelines to support data extraction from learning management systems and other sources.
Experience using scripting languages (e.g., Python, SQL) to automate data extraction, transformation, and loading tasks.
Experience handling and analyzing large, complex datasets.
Familiarity with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, Athena, or similar.
Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, SQL, Excel, or similar applications.
Familiarity with learning management systems, such as Blackboard, Canvas, Moodle, or similar platforms.
Knowledge of learning analytics methodologies, including data collection, cleansing, analysis, and interpretation.
Knowledge of data privacy and security regulations, such as FERPA, and experience handling sensitive data appropriately.
Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Educational Technology, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
