As our Associate Director of Development, Regional Giving for NY/Northeast, you'll focus on cultivating lower-level major gifts from alumni, parents, and friends across diverse geographical regions. Specifically, this role targets the New York/Northeast region, where you will reside and work. Working collaboratively with senior leadership and campus fundraisers, you will organize and implement a strong fundraising plan for prospects/donors in the NY/Northeast region and manage a portfolio of prospects and donors. You will extend UCLA’s presence and visibility in the NY/Northeast region by developing and stewarding regional boards, planning and staffing academic and administrative leadership travel (including Deans and faculty) to your regions, coordinating small- and large- scale donor engagements and creating other regional based initiatives. Qualifications Minimum of five years of demonstrated annual/leadership giving experience and/or prior professional experience in a related field such as sales, marketing or business development. (Required) Experience in and strong documented record of gifts solicited and closed in the annual/leadership gifts range and/or solicitations of a similar nature, level and complexity. (Required) Experience conceptualizing, planning and implementing special events. (Preferred) Experience with Blackbaud CRM or equivalent development database and the use of databases to generate reports. (Preferred) Working knowledge of principles and practices of fundraising in a university setting with a strong understanding of the goals, functions and services of a research university or institution of equivalent complexity. (Required)Ability to conceptualize and implement broad ranging and specific individual identification, cultivation and solicitation strategies. (Required)Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to write/edit reports, business correspondence, solicitation materials, letters of acknowledgement, proposals and other fundraising materials; ability to prepare clear and compelling materials for fundraising events, initiatives and programs. (Required)Excellent oral communication skills to collect and convey information with accuracy, diplomacy and tact; ability to persuasively express the mission of the university and the fundraising goals of the campus, especially as they relate to regional fundraising for NY and Northeast regions. (Required)Strong ability to recruit, orient, train, organize, motivate and evaluate staff and volunteers who support development goals and programs. (Required)Ability to work effectively as a team with well-developed interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with colleagues and build and sustain lasting relationships with a wide variety of internal/external constituents. (Required)Detail oriented with ability to work in a highly autonomous manner, work independently and accept responsibility; adept at setting priorities and managing work flow to fulfill objectives and meet goals accordingly to deadlines in a fast-paced environment. (Required)Ability to be proactive, take initiative and propose new/innovative strategies for developing/expanding regional prospect and donor opportunities. (Required)Knowledge of data management sufficient to retrieve data and isolate specific market segments. (Required)Ability to maintain confidentiality of donor files and other information; impeccable integrity and discretion in dealing with donors, alumni, students, administrators and colleagues. (Required)Proficiency with Microsoft suite of applications as well as familiarity with other database, spreadsheet, scheduling and email applications; willingness to learn new programs and applications in a prompt and efficient manner.
