Position Summary
The Department of Social Work, in the JFK School of Psychology and Social Sciences at the National University invites applications for part-time faculty in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated record of or potential for excellence in teaching in their field and a commitment to serving the university’s diverse adult student body. This position primarily works closely with the Academic Program Director and other faculty within the program and contributes to ensuring program quality, student engagement, and success.
Essential Job Duties:
- Provide substantive, timely feedback to students on various assessment activities.
- Maintain a positive, safe, inclusive student-centric learning environment.
- Complete required tasks on deadlines (e.g., final grades, assessment, grading rubrics, input for grade appeals, etc.)
- Maintain appropriate professional training and/or scholarly activities, when applicable.
- Provide feedback to the course lead regarding the course content.
- Identify at-risk students and collaborate with student services.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- Doctorate degree with focus in Counseling and Supervision or related counseling field from a regionally accredited institution.
- Minimum two (2) years of direct teaching experience at the Master and/or Doctoral level.
- Three to five (3-5) years of professional and/or research experience in Educational Leadership.
- Excellent skills in teaching online, a passion for teaching, and a commitment to learning to Teaching Through Feedback.
- Must have personal computer and ability to facilitate online instruction and communications remotely.
- All skills, abilities and education will be considered for minimum qualifications.
- Graduate of CACREP-approved program.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Research-based, scholarly, peer-reviewed journal article publications.
- Curriculum development experience.
- Experience guiding students through the dissertation process.
- Experience in higher education.
- Experience working in a technology-driven enterprise.
