The Education Programs area is currently seeking a full-time nine (9)-month Assistant Professor to promote and encourage student success in Education through quality instruction and real-world learning experiences beginning Spring 2026. Education Programs currently offer an Associate of Arts in Elementary Education, Special Education, and Physical Education, a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education (non-teacher certification), an Associate of Science in Early Childhood Education, the Florida Child Care Professional Credential (FCCPC) and the Director’s Credential.
Under general supervision, the Assistant Professor, Education will develop, prepare, teach, and assess a variety of courses in the Education Transfer program. The ideal candidate should positively contribute to the preparation of teachers, the learning of children P-12, and a commitment to improving outcomes of all populations. Teaching courses in the Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education program and Associate of Science in Early Childhood program may be required. Course offerings within Education Programs may be taught during the day and evening, at various SF Center locations, using a variety of learning modalities, such as in-person, online, hybrid, and hyflex. SFC’s full-time Education Programs faculty have a nine (9) month base contract teaching 15 credit hours in the fall and 15 credit hours in the spring. Summer teaching opportunities may be available for additional compensation based upon departmental need.
The starting salary is $50,303. Any salary amount above this is commensurate upon an individual's qualifications.
Job Description
Responsibilities and Duties Include:
Plans, creates, organizes, assesses, updates, and delivers instruction to didactic, laboratory and/or classroom settings to promote student success within a community college setting utilizing video-based supplemental instruction.
Supervises Education and/or Early Childhood Education intern and practicum students.
Supports and promotes the college and departmental missions centered on excellence in teaching and learning through quality instruction, curriculum enhancement, and timely service.
Collaborates with the Chair, faculty, and peers to evaluate, revise, and develop curriculum and andragogical methods that cultivates the mastery of course content, which includes aligning FELDS, FEAPs, and industry needs to existing and/or new curriculum.
Demonstrates technological literacy and innovation in the delivery of instruction.
Works collaboratively as part of a cohesive academic team.
Identifies ways that the department can build strong community partnerships and recruits members to participate in the Education Programs Advisory Committee.
Assists with the implementation of college policies, objectives, and functions in accordance with the SF philosophy, mission, strategic initiatives, and procedures.
Participates in departmental meetings and collegewide committees as needed.
Earns and maintains teaching certifications.
Provides students with frequent, timely assessment and clear feedback regarding academic performance.
Appropriately documents student progress and maintains records including attendance, grading, and student learning outcomes.
Develops methods that fairly and accurately assess students’ progress in achieving the stated learning outcomes/objectives.
Maintains appropriate office hours proportionate to the instructional assignment.
Works a flexible schedule at multiple campus locations.
Strictly honors the privacy and security of student records and other sensitive information according to appropriate state, federal and college regulations, policies, and procedures.
Complies with all published College Rules, procedures, guidelines, and laws/regulations governing public employees, including but not limited to those related to document retention and destruction, FERPA, and confidentiality.
Provides service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement.
Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required: A master's degree or a master's degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Adult Education, Elementary Education Foundations of Education, Secondary Education, Curriculum and Instruction, and/or Educational Leadership.
Additional Requirements: A criminal background check will be conducted.
Preferred: A master's or doctoral degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or a related field with three (3) years of teaching experience in a P-12 setting. Current Professional Teaching Certificate.
