The Executive Director of Student Life and Community Impact is a leadership role responsible for serving Plymouth State University. The primary emphasis for the Executive Director is the management and evolution of programs, of services, and of accommodations to support student engagement and success. The Executive Director will lead initiatives to advance student engagement, ensure access to student resources, and build partnerships with academic leadership.
Specifically, the Executive Director is responsible for the oversight of major facets of student programming (program-specific orientations, Student Senate elections, etc.), management of student accommodations,, student government and related activities and funds, student engagement and related activities. The position provides leadership, direction and oversight into Community Impact endeavors, via interactions with local entities, along with USNH contacts, along with being a resource for parental or student life topics. The position is an active member of PSU Leadership via being a member of the PSU Cabinet and reports directly to the President of the University.
Duties/Responsibilities
Leadership of Student Life andPSURepresentative for Student Affairs
Develop, implement, and lead vision for Student Life infrastructure and student programs that have direct impact on enhancing the student experience, support cluster learning, student retention, persistence, development, and degree completion by cultivating a community of belonging.
Serve asPSUstudent affairs representative and liaison to the cabinet.
Collaborate with colleagues and campus partners including but not limited to Enrollment, Academic Affairs, and Residential Life, to enhance and increase retention, persistence, and graduate rates through student engagement.
Develop, administer, and oversee the Student Life budget and reporting process.
Establish short-term and long-term strategic goals and deliverables of the Student Life Team that advance thePSUmission.
Oversee recruitment, development, supervision, and evaluation of Student Life professional staff and student employees.
Choreograph all Student Life functions and provide oversight of sequenced competency-based and social programs and events that foster student leadership, uphold the student code of conduct, and complement PSU’s Integrated Cluster Model.
Serve on the campus response team in meeting diverse needs of the student body and communicate with parents, families, and other campus stakeholders.
Collaborate with colleagues across campus and the university system to develop and oversee a structured co-curricular pathway framework that targets standards, objectives, and competencies through specific programming initiatives.
RepresentPSUin professional student affairs settings on and off campus.
Collaborate with campus and community colleagues, student leaders, partners, and parents & families to develop, align, implement, and promote existing and new innovative co-curricular and leadership programming opportunities that support PSU’s mission.
Oversee and supervise the development of student engagement opportunities that develop competencies aimed at growing capable, connected, and contributing active citizens.
Keep apprised of current trends and issues through literature, networking, and professional development opportunities to effectively provide the vision and advancement of student affairs atPSU.
Enforce and advance university policies.

Supervision of Community Impact Initiatives
Provide supervision and mentorship for the Associate Director of Community Impact and other members of the staff team.
Oversee the functional systems/processes/policies, and the development of transformative and reciprocal curricular and co-curricular high impact learning experiences that support cluster learning, benefit communities, and advance equity.
Collaborate with faculty/staff in advancing integrated clusters by connecting partner needs/projects to curricular and co-curricular off campus engagement experiences.
Oversee support for students/faculty in curriculum based high impact learning development and off campus placements; Provide resources in high impact pedagogies, best practices, and policies viaOCIwebsite, workshops, and collaboration with the CoLab.
Supervise the social action trips program and collaborate with colleagues and domestic and international partners to align trips with leadership experiences, cluster learning, and the co-curricular pathway framework.
Oversee Campus Ministry and Reflection & Spiritual Care Center programming and partnerships with the faith-based community.
Serve as a leader and liaison in the field of experiential learning and cluster-based learning in student affairs.
Oversee and advance the development of resources in high impact pedagogies, best practices, and policies via website, workshops, and direct communication.
Collaborate in advancing best practices and scholarly discussions in the pedagogies of high impact learning through research efforts.
Oversee data collection, program assessment, and quality improvement strategies for Office of Community Impact.
Define a new mission for the office of community impact and it’s increasing role in COOP and internship opportunities with businesses and non-profits in partnership with academic and career centers/programs.
Supervision of Student Experience Initiatives
Lead, support, and oversee the vision implementation for the Office of Student Experience in advancing new student orientation programming and activities and programs that meet the diverse needs of the student body.
Provide supervision and mentorship for the Associate Director of Student Experience, the Assistant Director of Student Engagement, the Coordinator of Military Services, and other members of the staff team.
Oversee the functional systems/processes/policies of programming that supports student development and retention efforts.
Support, oversee, and supervise the development and implementation of new student and family orientations including but not limited to planning events and services and programming for new student orientations, including but not limited to online orientation, Winter Orientation, Summer Orientation, Panther Days, and Welcome Week.
Collaborate with the Office of Academic Affairs, Enrollment Management, Student Services, and operational departments to ensure smooth processes during transition periods for new and existing students.
Oversee the development of advancing best practices in orientation, new student programs, student activities, and military services in support of retention efforts.
Serve as a representative ofPSUin the field of orientation and student programming.
Oversee the functional systems/processes that provide opportunities for students to engage in co-curricular opportunities that support student development and leadership competencies.
Provide leadership and oversight for Student Senate policies and procedures; ensure adherence to the constitution, and program planning and development; Provide oversight for the implementation and management of procedures and programs for recognized student organizations and campus-wide events.
Oversee the Development, implementation, and assessment of all student club and organization expectations, policies, procedures, and requirements. Provide oversight of Inter-Greek Council and Fraternity and Sorority Life policies and procedures.
Oversee and supervise the planning and implementation of campus-wide programs and traditions, including but not limited to First Fire, Ski Day, Spring Fling, etc.
Support the development of leadership pathways, education, training, and development programs for student organization leaders as well as the entire student body.
Collaborate in advancing best practices in student engagement, club and organization leadership, and co-curricular pathways. Serve as a representative ofPSUin the field of student engagement.
Oversee data collection, program assessment, and quality improvement strategies for Student Experience.
OverseeHUBFacility Operations and Campus Recreation Initiatives
Support the Director of Campus Recreation and Student Life in the implementation of Campus Recreation and Wellness programs, including by not limited to the Fitness Center, Outdoor Center, intermural & club sports, group exercise classes, and eSports facility.
Support the vision and oversight of Hartman Union Building (HUB) operations and development.
Management of Student Life Budget and Financial Planning
Develop, administer, and oversee the Student Life budget and reporting process. Plan and maintain the financial stability and advancement of Student Life.
Oversee allocation of student activity related fees and identify potential revenue opportunities for Student Life initiatives.
Serve as Student Affairs Liaison to University System, Local Community, and State of NH
Serve as a representative ofPSUin community-wide/system-wide initiatives in advancing best practices in the field of Student Affairs and Community Relations.
Serve onUSNHcommittees, including but not limited to the Student Affairs Executive Council, the Behavioral Health Roundtable, etc.
Establish and maintain positive and strategic community partnerships on behalf ofPSUthat support and advance the institution’s mission.
Collaborate with campus and community leaders in developing and implementing strategies that support the learning, development, and overall wellbeing of the student body.
Develop non-profit, business, and community partnerships that advance cluster learning and co-curricular engagement. Maintain relationships with off campus partners and participate in collaborative initiatives with community leaders that support student development and advance equitable and sustainable cluster projects and co-curricular opportunities for students.
RepresentPSUon community committees and councils, including but not limited to Campus and Community Council (CCC), Campus and Community Mental Health Council, Central NH Public Health Advisory Council, etc.
RepresentPSUin regular meetings with the Town of Plymouth and Town officials.
Advocate forPSUand policy support as a student affairs leader at local and state levels.
Oversee Parent and Family Resources
Oversee and supervise the development and implementation of parent and family resources, programs, and communications, including but not limited to The Loop communications portal, Loved Ones on Campus- Parent & Family Weekend, Loved Ones in the Loop podcast, etc.
Serve as aPSUrepresentative for parent and family communications and liaison to the cabinet.
Oversee Student Life Program Assessment and Quality Improvement
Collaborate with Institutional Effectiveness in overseeing data collection, program assessment, and quality improvement strategies for Student Life.
Track metrics to effectively meet the needs of students.
Gather institutional wide data for the purpose of reporting to thePSUcommunity, funders, partnering organizations, and other external stakeholders.
Develop and implement learning assessment and program evaluation strategies.
Oversee assessment of co-curricular and experiential learning by tracking metrics and outcomes usingPSUsupported tools.
Leverage data to make evidence-based decisions that support retention and persistence.
