Position Summary
SCC is seeking an Academic Program Coordinator to, in collaboration with the Dean, provide leadership and coordination of the administration and operational aspects of the Biotechnology program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assist leadership with academic schedules, curriculum development, and tracking documentation and materials for the Biotechnology program.
- Implement outreach and recruitment strategies for K-12 partnerships, four (4) year institutions, and business & industry collaborations.
- Collaborate with department colleagues and disciplines to determine relevant pathways, both for-credit and non-credit, for students seeking certifications and degrees in different disciplines.
- Maintain industry relevancy of course and program learning outcomes.
- Establish internship opportunities.
- Attend Project Lead the Way, science fairs, and other STEM-related events.
- Develop presentations for high school classrooms. Develop curriculum for and teach summer workshops.
- Maintain communication with Advisory Board, particularly industry partners.
As an institutional leader, the APC will:
- Develop and prepare faculty schedules and associated room assignments.
- Visit program sites and classrooms to monitor and evaluate program/faculty effectiveness.
- assist in preparation of the college catalog, class schedules, and other public information regarding their program. The APC will develop/maintain relationships, and lead students, faculty, and staff in a diverse environment. Leading and participating in department and staff/faculty discipline meetings and advisory boards will be a critical function of this role.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Masters degree or Ph.D. in Biotechnology or Biochemistry OR Bachelor's degree with significant and equivalent industry experience required.
