Job Summary
The University of Chicago is looking to hire a full-time Pre-doctoral Research Professional (RP) to assist with research in health, labor and urban economics. The RP will work under the supervision of Professor Joshua Gottlieb and colleagues. The Research Professional will be involved in all stages of ongoing and new research projects.
Responsibilities
Write programs in Stata, R or Python to analyze large datasets.
Construct maps, figures, and tables for economic papers.
Identify new data sources.
Perform routine assignments related to scientific research projects.
Assists in drafting presentations on research findings.
Ensures compliance of research activities with institutional, state, and federal regulatory policies, procedures, directives and mandates.
Writes articles, reports and manuscripts.
Analyzes and maintains data and/or specimens. Conducts literature reviews. Assists with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents.
Maintains technical and administrative support for a research project.
Performs other related work as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.
Work Experience:
Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through < 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Preferred Competencies
Advanced familiarity with numerical optimalization and package development in R and/or Python, and the ability to use Stata to manage and analyze large datasets. Previous experience with any specific language is not essential familiarity with at least one scripting language is strongly encouraged.
Excellent oral and academic writing/communication skills.
Detail-oriented with proven organizational and time management skills.
Demonstrated ability to review and prioritize work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Demonstrated ability to be resourceful and creative in problem-solving.
