International Services for Students provides holistic programs and services to support the international, newcomer and refugee student experience at SFU and manages the University's Study Abroad Programs (formal exchange, study abroad, faculty-led field schools) with over 130 partners around the globe to facilitate transformative international and intercultural learning opportunities for SFU students.
About the Role
The position develops and implements integrated international student programs and services for all university campuses. This scope encompasses immigration advising and programming, settlement services, transition support and intercultural programs international undergraduate, graduate, visiting research and exchange students. The role assesses data, insights and trends on relevant immigration changes and impacts, government policies, amendments to legislative and regulatory requirements, and recommends changes to current practices, policies, and protocols. The role directs the evaluation, assessment, integration, and administration of SFU's international and newcomer student services and programs. The position has financial management responsibility for related budgets. The role oversees staff and volunteers.

Qualifications
Master's degree and four years of related experience including experience in the management of international student retention programs and services, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Excellent knowledge of best practices and approaches to international student engagement and retention.
- Excellent leadership, supervisory, and coaching skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and project management skills.
- Excellent knowledge of the needs of a diverse student body, including the needs of international students with disabilities.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to exhibit a high level of tact, diplomacy, and professionalism.
