The Department of Clinical Neurosciences in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for an Imaging Research Associate. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 1 year (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
This position reports to the Director, Business Operations and is within the Calgary Stroke Program Stroke Clinical Trials Group.
The CT/MR Reader may be required to assist in leading any number of part-time unit members and students. The position is comprised of technical, clinical, and analytical research related to many aspects within the unit.
The incumbent must be capable of evaluating situations where escalating workload may lead to higher stress levels. The ability to prioritize and determine importance from a large volume of work on a constant basis is essential
Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):
- Maintain established programs
- Ability to demonstrate assigned and scheduled tasks are done on own initiative and that results are beneficial to the success of the department
- Ability to demonstrate and explain how work is performed to individuals in other positions performing similar work
- Maintain established procedures and programs including but not limited to the assurance of a hazard free working environment
- Good relationships are established and maintained with all unit members, including part time members who may report to this position
- Visual assessments of CT/MR images for research studies
- Report clinically relevant findings to PI's of research studies, and participate in consensus reviews for clinically significant findings
- Data entry in order to maintain existing databases and for the development of new databases
- Proofreads, creates and assists in the editing process of spreadsheets and other documents for members within the unit
- Must maintain the ethical and confidentiality standards set by external institutions (in regards to such legislation as FOIP) as well as those internally set by the University
- Must maintain current safety regulations set out by internal or external institutions
- Records research data on paper and in an electronic database
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Neurology Imaging PhD or Medical degree (MD or equivalent) is required
- Board certification in Neurology, Neuroradiology, or Radiology (Canadian or other national board certifying agency) would be an asset
- At least 6 months of Neurology, Neurosurgery, Neuroradiology or Radiology practice or research experience is preferred
- Expert knowledge of neuroanatomy required
- Previous experience with CT and MRI clinical or research interpretation is required
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to time manage and determine priorities
