Civil Discourse and Engagement:
The Office of Civil Discourse and Engagement (CDE) combines and expands existing efforts and expertise on how to engage in constructive conversations with educational programs to increase awareness, enhance knowledge and understanding, and offer alternative or varied solutions to important social problems. CDE offers these opportunities to faculty, staff, students, and the community. CDE is a part of the Access and Community Engagement unit within the Division of Academic Affairs and supports the following student Activity and Service Fee (ASF) areas: Multicultural Student Center, LGBTQ+ Student Support Services, and the Cultural Center.
The Opportunity:
UCF students seek a Multicultural Student Center Coordinator (MSC). The MSC Coordinator serves as a resource for all members of the University community and works collaboratively with university partners, and the Multicultural Student Center (MSC) Agency to support all students at UCF. The Coordinator assists students to plan and manage large-scale events; supervises student employees and volunteers; assists with the administration of MSC; makes referrals and helps maintain the ASF funded physical spaces associated with the office (Pride Commons and the Cultural Center).
Classification Title: Student Programs Coordinator II
Responsibilities:
Serves as a resource for all members of the University community and works collaboratively with university partners to support the mission and function of the following ASF funded areas: the Multicultural Student Center (MSC) Agency, Cultural Centers, and LGBTQ+ Services.
Provides guidance and administrative support for student-led programming and campus engagement of the MSC, including supervising MSC student leaders and volunteers.
Oversees MSC budget management, ensuring appropriate allocation and tracking of funds to support various programs and initiatives.
Provides oversight and coordinates maintenance of the Cultural Center.
Collects utilization data of the Cultural Center.
Develops program assessments/processes to suggest programmatic changes as needed and prepare monthly/semester reports and analysis for the Director.
Develops educational/awareness resources for the University community.
Maintains working relationships with campus and local partners to support student programming needs.
Reviews and maintains the website pages, social media, and print materials.
Ensures student programming board remain abreast of state/federal regulations and university policies.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's and 2+ years of relevant experience or Master’s degree and 0+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information
Preferred Qualifications:
We welcome candidates with experience in any of the following areas:
Masters in Higher Education Personnel Service, Leadership, or relevant field.
Experience in higher education, especially working with multicultural student populations, student leadership, and other student affairs initiatives.
Experience leading projects and initiatives in a higher education or non-profit environment.
Experience with community engagement and building strong partnerships across the community or a college campus.
Proven experience in conducting program assessments, including evaluating program effectiveness, identifying areas for improvement, and utilizing data-driven insights to inform decision-making.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong interpersonal relationships, with a focus on effective communication, collaboration, and trust-building.
Demonstrated experience in supporting and mentoring student leaders, fostering their personal and professional growth.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Canva.
