Transcripts

Job Description
General Statement of Job
Under direct supervision of a manager or a delegated Team Leader, the Intern participates in a 10-week internship program in varies departments of Technology. The Interns are given various technology assignments that increase in complexity as they become more skilled in different functions, including web research, system analysis, programming, software installation, hardware configuration, cybersecurity, networking, and client services. This role provides an opportunity for students to receive technical training and acquire hands-on experience.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
Engages in practical training while planning to continue their education, involving the execution of one or more of the following responsibilities under the guidance of South Texas College technical staff.
Collaborates with technical staff to assist in the adoption of technology standards, guidelines, and procedures based on industry best practices and compliance requirements.
Performs web research and/or design of websites/application.
Performs systems analysis.
Review current programs/applications and may do additional programming for current applications.
Configures desktop, Audio Visual (AV) and network hardware.
Works closely with technical staff to ensure college’s technology is operational.
Evaluates assigned work projects and exercises judgment in prioritizing projects under supervision.
Attends meetings and conferences as directed.
Use computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, word processing, e-mail and database software in performing work assignments.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
Must be 17 years of age or older and graduating Spring 2025 from a partnering High School to South Texas College with one of the following credentials:
Computer & Internet Specialist Certificate
Computer Application Specialist Certificate
Computer & Network Specialist Certificate
Cybersecurity Specialist Certificate
Cybersecurity Specialist Associate Degree
Computer Science Associate Degree
Showing an interest or previous experience in technology, computer hardware, and software.
Working towards enrolling or enrolled at South Texas College to continue education in the Summer or Fall Semester.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Working knowledge of the Internet.
Familiarity with different kinds of software and hardware.
Ability to analyze data and draw logical conclusions.
Ability to work well with others team members.
Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with a diverse, multi-cultural college population.
Demonstrated commitment to achieving the vision and mission of South Texas College.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to use computer applications.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of employees, managers and clients.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Security Sensitive position: All applicants are subject to a national criminal background check under South Texas College policy.

Physical Requirements
