The early childhood professional learning manager (ECPLM) plays a firsthand role in executing local campus plans made possible by the Transforming Indiana’s Early Childhood Workforce grant from Lilly Endowment. Through the grant, the ECPLM implements Ivy Tech innovation initiatives from the Fort Wayne and Kosciusko County campuses aimed to advance the early childhood profession and increase the early childhood workforce throughout Northeast Indiana. The position is a full-time faculty-level appointment based in the School of Arts, Sciences & Education at the Fort Wayne campus. This is a grant funded position through the Lilly grant. There is no guarantee for continued employment beyond the grant period, which concludes on December 31st, 2027.
Main Responsibilities: Reporting to the grant project director, the ECPLM performs all the essential functions as identified below.
Coordinates a wide range of professional learning activities in keeping with the funder’s priorities, College goals, and local campus project plans:
- Implements approved project plans that attract new entrants into the early childhood workforce and support their success in earning professional credentials and/or academic degrees.
- Contributes to Ivy Tech faculty efforts to engage community stakeholders and interest groups to inform current and future curricular offerings.
- Works in conjunction with the Fort Wayne faculty and Career Link team to map multiple professional development pathways that lead entering participants toward attainment of an early childhood professional credential and/or academic degree.
- Gives seminar presentations, delivers occasional college course lectures, and provides individualized technical assistance to early childhood professionals and advocates.
Fosters the health and continuing growth of the local community of early childhood professionals:
- Engages systematically with training participants, students, and other members for feedback and suggestions to improve professional learning experiences. Implements approved refinements to the 30-month project calendar.
- Serves as the main point of contact for Ivy Tech faculty, workshop presenters and technical experts, vendors and suppliers, and others associated with approved projects.
- Promotes positive relationships through regular communication and service excellence.
- Meets with and advises participants to resolve difficulties or concerns.
Monitors and reports project outcomes:
- Maintains a current and complete in-house repository of participant information, business transaction records, project milestone summaries, media releases, etc.
- Prepares a wide variety of documentation for timely reporting, accurate processing, and compliance with FERPA rules and other regulations.
- Tracks training participant attendance and other data to validate individuals’ completion of continuing education and credentialing requirements.
- Processes survey data to extract valuable insights and inform future programming decisions.
Assists the local campus project director:
- Provides counsel by sharing insights and recommending action to meet and exceed project aims.
- Accompanies or represents the project director at routine meetings, special events and other activities involving key stakeholders.
- Maintains an essential inventory of workshop materials, training resources, meeting supplies, promotional literature, and marketing collateral.
- Prepares program-related news for the Ivy Tech website and other distribution channels.
- Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet project goals.

Minimum Requirements:
- Master’s degree in early childhood education or closely related field outlined in ASOM credentialing requirements for teaching in the Early Childhood Education department.
- Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in early childhood education, including teaching, program management, career coaching, and/or technical support.
- Ability to collaborate and build productive alliances across systems (higher education, local schools, health and family support agencies, corporations, etc.)
- Experience that demonstrates the ability to effectively manage large projects with many intricate details.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced credentialing or specialized training in children’s growth and learning, early intervention, healthy family formation, and/or human services administration.
- At least 2 years of staff or instructional experience in a college, corporate training, or professional education setting.
- Working knowledge of policies, regulations and technical supports that affect early childhood program quality in Northeast Indiana.
- Experience in curriculum development, articulation, and accreditation.
