Job Description: Primary Responsibility Under the direction of the Associate Dean of Library Services with a dotted line reporting relationship with the Campus Vice President or designee, the Learning Commons Coordinator and Open Educational Resources (OER)/Cataloging Librarian serves a dual role overseeing college-wide initiatives around the adoption of Open Educational Resources (OER), and ensuring the accuracy and accessibility of library cataloging as well as overseeing operations of a campus Learning Commons. This position will serve the Learning Commons by offering innovative services in learning resources support, technologically enhanced learning spaces for students, staff, faculty, and community members, tutoring services, food services functions, and testing. This position has responsibilities to fulfill the college mission to serve and elevate the economic, social, cultural, and environmental vitality of its beautiful Rocky Mountain region by welcoming all learners through its doors, delivering highly relevant education and training and serving as a trusted partner for strategic collaboration and innovation. This role serves both the public and campus communities, including students, staff, and faculty. The coordinator supervises, assesses, trains, and collaborates with students, faculty, and staff so that they can provide exemplary learning services to enhance student success. Pre-requisites for Position (Qualifications Standards) Education and experience sufficient for the rigors of the position. Examples include a master’s degree and five years related experience; bachelor’s degree and seven years related experience or equivalent education and experience that will provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the functions of the position. Strong knowledge of cataloging standards (e.g., AACR2, RDA) and library classification systems (e.g., Library of Congress Classification, Dewey Decimal Classification) is preferred. The ideal candidate will have professional experience in an academic library setting as well as experience with library cataloging/metadata, library instruction, and working with open educational resources. The candidate will demonstrate excitement and enthusiasm for the Learning Commons model and have supervisory experience as well as excellent collaboration and communication skills. Hiring range = $68,944.78 - $76,605.31 annual salary depending upon a combination of education and experience. Minimum Qualifications: Essential Duties Promotes campus learning services and the Learning Commons services and works collaboratively with the CMC Online Library for the delivery of library services that meet the needs of the students, faculty, staff, and community. Provides leadership for the assessment of the Learning Commons, including the data collection, monitoring, and evaluating progress, and recommending and implementing institutional practices to improve effectiveness on an on-going basis. Recommends and implements improvements. Provides leadership to staff, faculty, and students to promote the services provided by the Learning Commons, help institutionalize new practices and enhance student success, as well as assure the operational success of the Learning Commons. Interacts with students in the Learning Commons in ways that promote and enhance an innovative mindset regarding student learning and model such behavior consistently for faculty and staff. Provides administrative support for users of the services, equipment, materials, and software available through the Learning Commons. Develops and implements Learning Commons procedures and processes. Leads Library operations at the designated campus as directed by the Associate Dean of Library Services. Guides scaffolding of information literacy instruction across curriculum at the campus. Guides library services for relevant academic and career pathway(s) based on discipline expertise. Develops community relationships with individuals and partner organizations. Collaborates with staff/faculty to develop discipline-specific learning services. Prepares, monitors, and manages budget(s) and expenditures. Trains, develops, supervises, and evaluates Learning Commons staff. Stays abreast of current practices and methods in learning services. OER Adoption and Promotion: Lead the college's OER initiative, promoting the adoption of OER across all disciplines. OER Development and Curation: Identify, develop, and curate high-quality OER to support student learning. Faculty Training and Support: Provide training and support to faculty on OER pedagogy, copyright, and licensing. OER Partnerships: Collaborate with other institutions and organizations to share OER resources and best practices. Cataloging: In cooperation with the Assistant Dean of Library Services, ensure that electronic and physical resources are properly cataloged and loaded into relevant catalogs and discovery layers. Performs other duties as assigned. Supervision Received This position receives general guidance with dually reports to the campus VP or designee for campus operations and to the Associate Dean of Library Services for library-related operations and duties. Supervisory Responsibility This position supervises administrative, professional, technical, and clerical staff. Special Conditions of Employment Successful completion of a background check including motor vehicles record report will be required. Incumbents in this position will adhere to all safety and compliance policies of Colorado Mountain College while performing all duties assigned. Travel, evenings, and weekends may be required due to the nature of the position. Travel throughout the CMC service area required. Evenings and weekends will be needed at times, due to the nature of the work. Working Conditions This position requires constant sitting, occasional walking, standing, and driving; occasional handling objects, pushing/pulling; frequent reaching with hands/arms, and use of finger movements; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects up to 50 lbs. Constant written and oral communication and the ability to reason and analyze and perform calculations occasionally.
