Description
Purpose
The Assistant Coach – Men’s Basketball is responsible for having an in-depth understanding of all aspects that relate to the Basketball program, as well as the ongoing recruitment of and development of student-athletes at Life University. The Assistant Coach performs responsibilities in alignment with the department vision of being a leading institution in performance and meaningful student-athlete experience, and consistently demonstrates valued behaviors of respect, grit, constant growth, and integrity.
Responsibilities
- Have a clear understanding of the values, strategy, and operational plan for the team under the leadership of the Head Coach.
- Assist in the coaching/supervision of daily practices including off-season development. This includes meeting performance expectations for the team.
- Assist with recruitment activities for student athletes as directed by the head coach
- Assist with the organization of team travel as directed by the head coach
- Work with department administrators in respective areas to ensure the student-athletes are meeting their athletic and academic responsibilities
- Assist in all efforts to promote the academic success and engagement of student-athletes including making progress toward their degree
- As directed by the head coach, participate in meetings with the coaching staff, athletic trainers, and university staff to ensure coherent communication throughout the organization
- Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach/Athletic Director

Qualifications
Education, Training and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Collegiate coaching and recruiting experience.
- Ability to demonstrate overall business acumen.
- Basic knowledge of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) rules and regulations.
- Ability to interact effectively in a collegial environment.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations
CPR/AED certified
Preferred Qualifications
- Three years of experience in coaching and recruiting experience
- Working knowledge and understanding of NAIA/NCAA rules and policies
- Proficient with statistical/scoring software programs
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift/carry/relocate equipment and supplies to various locations for athletic events
- Ability to drive to various locations
- Ability to demonstrate skills/techniques to student-athletes
Working Conditions
- Work performed in various locations in and around the Life University campus, including athletic fields and gymnasiums
- Travel required
- Weekend & evening work is required. Must be flexible to accommodate a fast-paced and time demanding profession
