Department SummaryUnder the direction of the Principal Investigator, the Research Nurse meets with study participants to answer questions about the research and promote communication about the study, conducts clinical research procedures that include eligibility screening, obtaining informed consent, vital signs, anthropomorphic measures, venipuncture, bio-sample collection and processing, assists with spirometry, administers questionnaires, and provides clinical and mental health referrals as indicated. The Research Nurse will enter the clinical data into a RedCap secure HIPAA compliant tool that uploads directly into the study Data Security Core. The Research Nurse will provide reports and summaries as requested by the PI. The Research Nurse will maintain laboratory certifications and compliance with UCLA environmental health and safety regulations. The Research Nurse will assist in training of students and new staff for the project.

QualificationsAcademic preparation in Nursing (Required)Knowledge and understanding of research study logistics including human subject recruitment for research. (Required)Knowledge of medical terminology. (Required)Demonstrated computer skills/abilities; word processing skills and email. (Required)Comfortable in BSL2 facility working with BSL2 agents. (Required)Ability to work efficiently and complete tasks with a high degree of accuracy. (Required)Ability to work flexible hours and weekends and transport self to data collection sites. (Required)Ability to concentrate and focus on tasks in a work environment that contains distracting stimuli (Required)Strong interpersonal communication skills to effectively and diplomatically interact with others with completeness and organization.
