Office of Science Education, Faculty of Science
Position Summary:
Acts as liaison between the Science Undergraduate Society, departmental associations, and the Office of Science Education, to collaboratively plan and promote student events such as SciLearn (a program for incoming students to help with the transition to university) and the Undergraduate Poster Showcase.
Acts as resource person to resolve issues that may arise during events and/or provide individual accommodations.
Produce promotional materials and promote initiatives using social media and student-specific communication channels (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, news bulletins).
Participate in initiative-specific discussion and lived experience for communications strategy development
Contribute to event documentation by assisting with the creation of artifacts (e.g. photographs, news articles, social media posts) and an event report.
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities
Undergraduate student (Faculty of Science student preferred)
Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, graphic design platforms and social media for professional and promotional use (e.g.Microsoft Excel, Canva, Mural Facebook and Instagram)
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
Ability to work independently and with a team
Organization and time management skills
Interest in remote and on campus event planning, student engagement, and/or communications preferred
Location: This position is located in Montreal, Quebec and the work for this position is expected to be performed in Quebec.
Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level 4 on a scale of 0-4.
