Job Summary
Chicago Booth’s intellectual capital team was founded in 2012, with the aim of highlighting faculty research, analysis and opinion. The team produces Chicago Booth Review, a quarterly magazine about the latest research, the Chicago Booth Review website and a broad range of video content, including The Line of Inquiry series, The Chicago Booth Review Podcast, a weekly video podcast where professors are interviewed about their research, and monthly mini-documentaries produced in association with Chicago Booth Review magazine. The Senior Associate Director, Multimedia is a key member of the team, responsible for the front to back production of all video and the audio production process.
The intellectual capital team is a small group (seven full-time staff) with a collaborative approach to content production. The Senior Associate Director, Multimedia will be expected to generate plenty of ideas, manage a video editor and multiple podcast freelance contributors, and have boundless energy and enthusiasm. The Senior Associate Director, Multimedia will need to be able to work with Booth faculty to help broadcast their research to a range of audiences. The Senior Associate Director, Multimedia will also be expected to help further develop and implement a strategic vision for increasing the profile of Booth’s intellectual capital using video and audio.
Responsibilities
- Produces all Intellectual Capital videos and the CBR podcast, ensuring timely weekly releases of both audio and video formats.
- Manages a video editor and works with the audio engineer, ensuring goals are set, standards are met, and quality production is maintained.
- Assists in developing original concepts for video, audio, and series, including scriptwriting, storyboarding, set design, and location selection, to reach diverse audiences.
- Edits all Intellectual Capital content across video and audio, including title sequences, graphics, b-roll, found sound, charts/tables, and repurposing existing footage.
- Acts as lead producer for all video content, including booking faculty/invited guests and reserving necessary locations or rooms.
- Serves as the Intellectual Capital team’s primary videographer, visual editor, podcast producer, and multimedia producer.
- Works collaboratively with other Booth departments to assist with video and audio production as needed.
- Advises Booth faculty on video and multimedia projects.
- Sources, manages, and maintains relationships with outside contractors, including camera operators, lighting, sound, graphics, voice talent, transport, music, etc.
- Oversees the CBR multimedia budget, advises on and manages the selection and purchase of multimedia equipment for CBR and other Booth units, and develops/executes a strategic promotion and dissemination plan for video and audio content.
- Plans and conceptualizes the scope of projects, and provides content strategy and editorial direction.
- Manages some client relations, develops proposals, and may negotiate project budgets.
- Performs other related work as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Work Experience:
Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 5-7 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Experience:
- Proven track record of acting as producer, editor, videographer and director on a range of projects.
- Managing video editors, videographers, and multimedia freelancers, including hiring crew members to staff video/film projects.
- A minimum of five years managing a production budget.
- Lleading multimedia strategy for a large organization.
- Working with faculty in a university setting.
Technical Skills or Knowledge:
- Track record of conceiving, producing, and editing podcasts.
- Proficient at filming, acquiring and using b-roll.
- Create and maintain visual branding for video and audio.
- Training and experience using editing software such as Final Cut and the Adobe Suite (Photoshop, After Effects, etc.).
- Training and experience using audio-editing software such as Audition and Logic.
Preferred Competencies
- Excellent people skills, including an ability to cooperate, coach, and help faculty to explain their work in nontechnical language.
- Comprehend, translate, and summarize complex research ideas.

- Strong communications skills, confidence in presentations to internal partners and in working with team leads and direct reports.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and diplomatically with colleagues, as well as with students, faculty, Booth leaders and high-level business executives and vendors in a multitude of communication methods including in person, email, and phone.
Working Conditions
- This position is currently expected to work a minimum three days per week in the office.
- Travel to conferences and film Booth and non-Booth faculty in the U.S. and abroad, both for CBR and for Chicago Booth, to lead video coverage when needed.
- Work on evenings and weekends when needed.
