Job Summary
This position is responsible for supporting, coordinating and facilitating activities related to the development and tracking of international partnerships, including the support of transnational education pathways and programs in the International Office under the Office of the Provost and Vice-President, Academic (P &VPAO). This includes planning, developing, and coordinating a wide variety of partnership initiatives, activities, and materials; developing and implementing processes to support internationalpathways and supporting the development and delivery of programming related tocampus internationalization at UBC Okanagan.
Organizational Status
This position reports to the Associate Director, Campus Internationalization in the Office of the P &VPAO. This position supports the work of the PVPAO leadership team and interacts closely with related portfolios and units at UBC’s campuses; UBC faculty and departmental staff; faculty and departmental staff at partner universities; and students from partner universities.
Work Performed
- Develop and implement processes for the design, approval, and delivery of international education programs and pathways, such as direct-entry cohorts, alternate pathways (e.g., 2+2 or 3+1+X, where X stands for time duration for completing the Professional Graduate program), and short-term, non-credit programs (e.g., summer programs).
- ·Liaise with international and other relevant units at UBC Vancouver and UBC Okanagan, including but not limited to the Office of Global Engagement, the International Student Initiative, the Global Engagement Office, and Enrolment Services to develop and optimize processes to align international programs and pathways with broader internationalization strategies and student support services.
- Support the Associate Director, Campus Internationalization, with international partnership management and act as the liaison between the International Office and other UBC units and resource groups working with international programs and pathways.
- Coordinate academic planning and quality assurance for transnational programs to ensure compliance with institutional, provincial, and international standards, including alignment with Canadian degree frameworks and partner country regulations.
- Prepare documentation for Senate and subcommittee approvals, ensuring academic rigor and compliance with university governance requirements.
- Liaise with academic units and international partners to support program planning, delivery logistics, and issue resolution.
- Manage international program participants prior to arrival on campus and advises students and partner institutions throughout the application/pre-arrival process; facilitates customized information sessions for students and partners and responds to program inquiries.
- Establish monitoring systems to track program performance, compliance, and student outcomes across partner institutions.
- Contribute to strategic planning by improving operational workflows.
- Perform other duties as required.
Consequence of Error/Judgement
The International Office is a high-priority and high-profile portfolio within the Office
of the P &VPAO and UBC Okanagan. Partnership and program outcomes can be expected to have a significant impact on UBC Okanagan’s public profile and standing in the eyes of international partners across all sectors, and the general public. Lack of professionalism and poor decision making could lead to serious financial or reputational damage to the University. Frequent interaction with other UBC Okanagan units, as well as outside organizations, requires excellent communication skills and tact to avoid negative on the University and P&VPAO’s international reputation.
Supervision Received
This position reports to the Associate Director, Campus Internationalization and is
key member of a cross-functional team that includes program staff, faculty and other
departments and resource groups on campus. The incumbent works closely with the
P&VPAO leadership team.
Supervision Given
This position will be indirectly responsible for supervising student participants in collaboration with other program staff and faculty. This position will work closely
with other units/ Faculties to determine tasks and responsibilities of program
employees and may occasionally supervise students, coordinators, and temporary
employees.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Relevant field.
- Minimum of four years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
