Job DescriptionTemporary Administrative Assistant - Rappaport Center
The
Rappaport Center for Law and Public Policy at Boston College Law School was
established through a gift by the Phyllis and Jerome Lyle Rappaport
Foundation. Serving Boston College Law
School, as well as the other law schools and the greater policy community in
Massachusetts, the Center advances the mission of fostering, supporting, and
galvanizing leadership in state and local public policy. The Center’s core activities include
convening policy makers, thought leaders, and impacted community members in
generative discussions on urgent legal and public policy challenges; bringing
Senior Fellows and Visiting Professors from government, academia, and
non-profit organizations to engage with students and the greater Boston legal
and public service community; and providing emerging leaders with funding,
experiential learning opportunities, and mentorship through a competitive
summer fellowship program for law students.
The
Center is seeking a versatile and detail-oriented temporary administrative
assistant to support the Executive Director and Faculty Director. This dynamic
role is central to planning, marketing, and executing high-profile
programs—including the Distinguished Public Policy Series, Visiting Professor
and Senior Fellows Programs, Summer Fellowship Program, and Advisory Board
meetings. The temporary assistant manages essential operations such as
scheduling, travel coordination, expense tracking, and database maintenance. As
a key thought partner, the Assistant also helps bring new initiatives to life,
playing a vital role in the Center’s growth and impact. This is an excellent opportunity for a
motivated professional with interests in human resources, event planning,
marketing, and public policy.
Keys
tasks include:
- Maintaining files and databases
- Managing documents, resources, and physical space
- Calendaring events and liaising with other departments to prevent conflicts
- Securing and setting up spaces
- Ordering and setting up catering
- Creating and distributing marketing materials and welcoming guests.
- Helps to plan and execute all fellowship program activities, including supporting all recruiting events, organizing the application and evaluation process, scheduling interviews, planning orientation, experiential programming, and celebrations
- Provides visiting faculty and Senior Fellows with classroom support
- Serve as receptionist and provide secretarial support
- Draft, review, and edit correspondence, meeting materials, and other documents
Update and maintain the Center’s website and social media channels, distribute information via social media and newsletters, and prepare publicity materials.

Requirements- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Google Workspace, and database management
- Proficiency with basic graphic design, such as Canva or InDesign
- Proficiency with website maintenance; blogging and electronic newsletter platforms, such as Mailchimp; and social media platforms
- High school degree required; Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
