The Opportunity
The University of Central Florida College of Medicine (UCF COM) is seeking an experienced psychiatrist at the rank of assistant, associate, or professor of medicine to have a significant teaching role in undergraduate medical education and graduate medical education and provide direct, outpatient psychiatric medical care at a UCF COM affiliated clinical site (to be determined) based on the interests and qualifications of the selected candidate. This position is a non-tenure earning appointment.
College of Medicine Educational Programs (60%)
The successful applicant will teach psychopathology, psychopharmacology, and fundamentals of medical interviewing in an integrated format in first- and second-year medical student modules, and psychiatry didactics in the 3rd year clerkship. Additionally, teaching and mentorship in the psychiatry residency program will be required. The successful candidate will serve as Psychiatry Chair for Education and will be responsible for mentorship, specialty advising, and letters of recommendation for students applying to Psychiatry residency programs. Collaborations with both basic science and clinical faculty to integrate and reinforce psychiatry concepts throughout the M.D. program curriculum is an essential element of this role. All faculty are expected to pursue scholarly activities to fulfill the criteria for academic advancement. Both general adult, and pediatric/adolescent fellowship-trained psychiatrists with an interest in medical education are encouraged to apply.

Clinical Responsibilities (40%)
It is expected that patient care responsibilities will be met concurrently with effort assignments in the educational programs. The department chair will work with the candidate to determine a suitable clinical site based on the interests and subspecialty qualifications of the candidate.
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must hold an M.D./D.O. from an accredited institution. Candidates must be eligible for licensure or licensed to practice in the state of Florida and must be board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Candidates must also have 5-10 years of relevant work experience.
The candidate’s scholarly background and experience must be commensurate with the faculty rank for which the application is submitted.
Preferred Qualifications:
The preferred candidate will have a track record of scholarly activity and experience teaching medical students and/or residents in an LCME/ACGME accredited program.
