Travailler avec le professeur et le technicien pour organiser deux excursions sur le terrain durant la fin de semaine, installer le laboratoire, superviser les activités des étudiants et coordonner les assistants d’enseignement « juniors ». Les activités comprennent l’échantillonnage sur le terrain de lacs et de rivières, l’analyse de variables de qualité de l’eau (chlorophylle a, phosphore total, ions dissous), l’étalonnage d’un Hydrolab et l’encadrement des assistants juniors. Une correction de devoir est également prévue pour la première fin de semaine sur le terrain.
L’assistant(e) principal(e) devra se familiariser avec les procédures d’analyse chimique (fer ferreux, fer total, sulfate, sulfure, nitrate, phosphore) avant le départ (temps estimé : 2 heures). Il/elle collaborera également avec le technicien pour rassembler le matériel et charger le camion (temps estimé : 4 heures par excursion).
La veille du départ, le technicien, l’assistant(e) principal(e) et le professeur rassembleront le matériel et prépareront le camion.
Le jour de l’arrivée de la classe à la station de terrain (généralement le vendredi précédant la fin de semaine sur le terrain), le professeur, le technicien et l’assistant(e) principal(e) partiront sur le terrain pour installer le laboratoire (temps estimé : 9 heures).
Lorsque les étudiants arrivent le vendredi soir, une séance d’information sur la sécurité et une orientation des laboratoires sont données. Les étudiants sont divisés en 8 ou 9 groupes de 3 à 4 personnes chacun.
