OTA Applied Kinesiology Adjunct Faculty Description
South College invites applications for the position of Adjunct Instructors for the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program at the Nashville campus. The adjunct Instructor will prepare students, under the direction of OTA Program Director, with the knowledge, technical skills, and work habits to pursue entry-level competence necessary for occupational therapy assistants. The adjunct instructor will provide instruction for course(s) needed on a quarter-by-quarter appointment. The number of adjunct instructors hired varies from quarter to quarter.
This specific adjunct appointment is for the course OTA 1335 – Applied Kinesiology.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver class instruction to meet course competencies
- Collaborate with the academic fieldwork coordinator to ensure that course design meets standards to facilitate success with fieldwork rotations
- Advise and tutor students as indicated
- Complete faculty and student evaluations
- Participate in workshops, seminars, and continuing education to enrich professional development.
Requirements
Education
- Coordinators must hold a minimum of a baccalaureate degree awarded by an institution that is accredited by a USDE- recognized regional or national accrediting body
Experience
- A minimum of three years of full-time clinical experience
- At least one (1) year teaching experience is preferred with knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques
- Knowledge of principles, methods, current developments in the field required
- Knowledge of subject matter and course content taught, with documented specialty certifications or advanced practice certifications preferred
- Strong leadership, communication (oral and written), organizational and interpersonal skills
Licensure
- Licensed to practice as an OT or OTA in the state of TN or Eligible for Licensure in the State of Tennessee
- This individual must be a licensed or otherwise regulated Occupational Therapist or Occupational Therapy Assistant
Necessary Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Excellent planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to develop, implement and interpret policies and procedures.
- Ability to communicate sensitive information verbally and in writing to a diverse population.
- Experience with word processing, spreadsheets, and database software systems.
- Experience with or a willingness to learn video/LMS platforms (ex: Canvas
