Hiring Unit: Centre for Research on Brain, Language and Music (CRBLM)
Position Summary:
As part of the appointment in the Centre for Research on Brain, Language and Music (CRBLM) you are expected to carry out and support all aspects of research associated with the Centre under the Director’s supervision.
Some of the primary responsibilities will be:
1.Help members conduct research independently using established protocols and methodologies and assisting where needed.
2.Recommend and implement methodological improvements for carrying out research at the centre.
3.Assists with grant proposal preparation.
4.Playing a role in analyzing centre statistics, designing surveys, producing reports and briefs about the centre, and assisting with knowledge translation.
5.Discuss, research, plan and implement special projects under the guidance of the Director and Executive Committee, that expand the reach of the cluster.
6.Help with aspects of the clusters grants including: reporting, tracking progress, communicating with collaborators and administrators, both at McGill and granting agencies.
7.Acts as first point of contact of the Center, answers face to face, phone and email inquiries;
8.Prepares expense reports for the students and members related to scientific events of the center
9.Coordinates and attends special events for the Centre in line with the CRBLM scientific program and themes on the neurobiology of language and music.
10.Any other activities assigned by your Supervisor
Qualifications:
French/English bilingualism is essential, as is a Masters or PhD degree showing experience with one or more of the areas of research covered by the CRBLM. The ideal candidate will be comfortable reaching out to and working with students, faculty, industry, and members of the community. Experience in science communication and outreach, specifically cognitive neuroscience, is an asset.
Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level #4 on a scale of 0-4
