Assisting the STEM Lab Director with planning and executing programs for school aged student groups.
Major Responsibilities:
- Experience in leading programming for students of various ages.
- Able to manage groups of students in an out-of-school environment.
- Approach to work is one that is supportive, nurturing, and inclusive for all.
- Flexible and able to adapt to changes in the work environment.
- Have access to reliable transportation to commute, to and from work to program locations, and for activities (such as meetings, classes, and workshops in and out of the immediate area.)
- An understanding of Ivy Tech’s mission and values.
- Ability to critically assess situations, solve problems, work effectively under stressful situations.
- Ability to understand and carry out varied instruction and procedures with minimal supervision.
- Ability to communicate effectively and exhibit excellent relationship building skills with all levels of employees, management, and students (families).
- Other duties as logically assigned.
Physical Requirements:
Role requires standing, walking, leaning, bending, sitting. Must be able to lift 45lbs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited institution, in education, business or stem-related experience in teaching, training or facilitation as documented by attainment of academic credential or through documented work experience;
Experience:
One (1) year of experience in higher education and/or one (1) year in a supervisory role
Computer Skills:
Microsoft Office Suite;
Certifications & Licenses:
Valid Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution, in education, business or stem-related experience in teaching, training or facilitation as documented by attainment of academic credential or through documented work experience.
- Coursework or experience in a STEM field or education.
- Familiarity with STEM tools (e.g., robotics kits, coding apps, drones, basic lab equipment).
- Experience leading activities or working in informal learning environments.
- Ability to back up a 16ft trailer or the capability to learn.
