Since 1974, the High School Dual Enrollment Program at Santa Fe College has served students from Alachua, Bradford and surrounding counties. More than 1000 students take college courses annually that count towards both their high school diploma and their collegiate transcripts. The department is responsible for helping to ensure the success of the Dual Enrollment students while they are participating in the program. Our mission is to develop high school students into adults who will lead useful and productive lives.
The High School Dual Enrollment Program is seeking a 12-month Advisement and Guidance Specialist to provide academic, career and personal counseling for high school juniors and seniors on Santa Fe College’s Northwest Campus.
Job Description
Responsibilities and duties include:
Works directly with students to address their academic progress, career planning and personal goals.
Consults with teachers, administrators, parents and others to effectively respond to the academic, personal and social needs of the students.
Works collaboratively with the SF Academy of Science and Technology on guidance needs.
Coordinates the student’s academic progress and maintains accurate records, ensuring that the student remains on track to graduate from high school.
Actively participates on committees and special projects that provide service to the college and community.
Stays abreast of all Florida high school graduation and AA/AS/certification requirements.
Complies with all published College Rules, procedures, guidelines, and laws/regulations governing public employees, including but not limited to those related to document retention and destruction, FERPA, and confidentiality.
Strictly honors the privacy, security, and confidentiality of student records and other sensitive information according to appropriate state, federal, and college regulations, policies, and procedures.
Provides service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Reports to: Executive Director of Secondary Programs
QUALIFICATIONS
Required: A master’s degree in counseling or a comparable field with recent experience in the field, as well as a minimum of two years of experience in the high school, college/university, or other setting where adolescents are the primary focus is required. Must have experience in personal, academic and career counseling.
Additional Requirements: A criminal background check will be conducted.
Preferred: Florida certification in School Counseling (grades K-12), extensive knowledge of high school graduation requirements, state secondary testing, Exceptional Student Education (ESE) accommodations, and college degree requirements are preferred.

Systems & Software - proficient level of knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or relevant position software programs.
