The Financial Aid Assistant provides front-line administrative support to the Office of Financial Aid, Admissions, and the Enrollment Center. This position serves as the first point of contact for students, families, and campus visitors, offering guidance on financial aid and general enrollment services including admissions, registration, orientation, assessment, and payment information.
All responsibilities must be performed in compliance with FERPA and institutional confidentiality policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist students and families with financial aid inquiries, including FAFSA completion, document submission, and loan/scholarship processing.
- Perform data entry and record maintenance using the Banner Financial System; collect and prepare data for required reports.
- Manage document imaging and file organization for the Financial Aid Office.
- Provide accurate forms and instructions for Financial Aid and Enrollment Center processes; verify completeness of submitted documentation.
- Answer calls and inquiries for the Financial Aid Office, Enrollment Center, and Admissions; respond to questions and route, as necessary.
- Support mailings, communications, special projects, and event preparation.
- Participate in outreach activities, such as open houses, service projects, and professional development events.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Financial Aid.
Schedule:
- Monday, Wednesday, Thursday: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
- Tuesday: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
- Friday: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- *Evenings, weekends, and peak periods as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree preferred.
- 6–12 months of related experience or a combination of education and experience in financial aid, enrollment services, or higher education.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interpret procedural documents and work effectively in a dynamic, customer-focused environment.
- Demonstrated dedication to creating a welcoming and service-focused environment.
