Position SummaryThe Culture And Race Ethnicity (CARE) in Youth Mental Health Lab is hiring a full-time research assistant to assist in the conduct of community-based intervention/implementation trials focused on advancing youth mental health equity. Under the direct supervision of Dr. Anna Lau, the research assistant will work on two studies funded by the National Institute of Mental Health. Project STRIVE Project STRIVE (STudents RIsing aboVE) is an R37-funded mechanistic prevention trial that will examine the causal role of emotion regulation strategies in driving health disparities among racial/ethnic minority youth. We will test a whether a tailored mindfulness intervention can interrupt the links between the striving persistent behavioral style and disparate health outcomes among high-achieving racial/ethnic minority students. SAFETY-A in Schools This R34-funded study will adapt Safe Alternatives For Teens and Youth ? Acute (SAFETY-A) for implementation in low-resourced school districts to reduce racial/ethnic disparities in mental health service use following identification of suicide risk in youth. SAFETY-A will be adapted to fit the organizational context of school districts and address the mechanisms underlying disparities in aftercare for Asian American and Latinx students.
