Position SummaryThe Senior Associate Director, Evaluation position is a senior leader within Undergraduate Admission and is responsible for managing three key areas: providing all oversight for transfer review and selection, all aspects of international recruitment, review and selection, and all aspects of evaluation compliance and liaisonships.
With over 28,000 transfer applications, which make up 1/3 of the incoming undergraduate students, this position is responsible for managing all areas of evaluation functions that includes developing, implementing, directly participating in, monitoring and evaluating all Undergraduate Admission (UA) transfer evaluation initiatives, practices and evaluation services to achieve UCLA's new student transfer enrollment objectives.
The individual is responsible for leading strategies and options for achieving new student enrollment targets, as well as providing strategic input on proposed University-wide and/or local campus policies that affect the transfer of students from two- and four-year institutions to UCLA. The incumbent also works with academic units and faculty in the development and communication of UCLA transfer selection requirements, i.e. lower-division major preparation, and represents UCLA and UA to internal, external and professional constituents involved in the recruitment, admission and enrollment of transfer students.
In addition to leadership responsibilities associated with transfer enrollment management, the Associate Director coordinates a number of key transfer-related functions including: UCLA's Preliminary Academic Review of Transfer Selection (PARTS) process for transfer admission; UA's role in the UCLA Transfer Alliance Program (TAP); the UCLA ADT Pilot, and collaborates with the academic units and campus colleagues in support of transfer admission to UCLA. The position requires an advanced level of expertise in all areas of evaluation for first-year and transfer applicants, and a comprehensive knowledge of higher education both domestically and abroad. This expertise is typically acquired through prior experience in the evaluation of first-year and transfer applications and related experiences, including transfer student recruitment.
The position serves on UC system-wide task forces and committees, including development and leadership in operational and policy making system-wide projects. The position also serves as resource to the staff in UA, including other evaluators and recruitment officers, and the external community for complicated issues and problems related to admission to the University.
Additionally, through the supervision of the Senior Assistant Director of Compliance, Policies, and Liaisonships, this individual ensures adherence to all UCLA, UC, state, and federal regulations related to undergraduate admission. This includes oversight of all areas of compliance, specialty school admission processes, and policy implementation. The individual also manages the cancellation process for all first-year and transfer applicants who do not meet the conditions of their admission contracts.
In collaboration with the Associate Director of International Admission, the individual provides strategic and operational oversight for the review and evaluation of approximately 26,000 first-year international applications. This includes supporting related international recruitment strategies and initiatives to ensure a holistic and equitable admission process for a global applicant pool.
The incumbent is a member of the UA management team, serves as a leader within the first-year evaluation team, and provides significant leadership throughout the UC system.

Qualifications5 years Demonstrated management experience in college or university admissions and recruitment. Typically, minimum five years of experience required.
