HEALTH SCIENCE ADJUNCT – Anatomy and Physiology with Lab
South College invites applications for the position of Adjunct Faculty Member for Anatomy and Physiology with Lab at the South College Indianapolis Learning Site.
Responsibilities
- Lead instruction in comprehensive health science courses that introduce students to the structures and functional components of the human body. Topics include characteristics of life, homeostasis, levels of organization, metabolism, and detailed coverage of major body systems such as integumentary, endocrine, skeletal, muscular, nervous (including special senses), digestive, respiratory, cardiovascular, lymphatic, immune, urinary, reproductive (including elementary genetics), and fluid/electrolyte balance.
- Provide quality instruction in each assigned course within the approved academic program curriculum.
- Meet South College standards for classroom management, use of technology, grade submission, and records management.
- Prepare and implement teaching and evaluation strategies for engagement of students.
- Support student success through mentoring and tutoring.
- The adjunct faculty member is appointed on a quarter-by-quarter basis.
- Instruction will be delivered primarily during the weekday but occasional evening classes (ex: 5:30-9:45 pm), and/or Saturday morning classes may be required. Moreover, the course format may be online or on-ground depending on student need and preference.
Requirements
Education
- A minimum of an acceptable master’s or doctoral degree in the discipline, or an earned master’s or doctoral degree and satisfactory completion of 18 graduate semester hours in the discipline.
- Official, sealed transcripts will be requested from both undergraduate and graduate institutions.
Preferences
- Experience and documented excellence in postsecondary teaching.
